'Dancing With the Stars' Seeking Same-Sex Couple

When the Israeli edition of 'Dancing With The Stars' confirmed it would feature its first-ever same-sex couple, the outpouring of media attention caught the eye of the producers of the American version. Now, sources tell me the US edition of the worldwide dance phenomenon is actively looking to do the same.

"The show is definitely looking for a trick for its next edition that will go up against 'American Idol,'" a 'Dancing' insider tells me. "What better than to have a same-sex couple dancing together? That would certainly get more press than even Jennifer Lopez could drum up."

It's true the show does know a thing or two about stunt casting. Learning from recent stars Kate Gosselin and Bristol Palin, the producers have seen first hand how a casting controversy can bring in the viewers.

"Nothing would be as sensational as two beautiful women dancing together," a TV expert tells me. "Two men would be less accepted as two gorgeous ladies, that is why the producers' first choice is Portia de Rossi, who is married to Ellen DeGeneres."

Although Portia has not been approached yet with the idea, several sources close with casting tell me it's one name that keeps coming up over and over again.

"Portia is perfect because she is openly gay and happily married to her wife, who happens to be one of America's most loved celebrities," a source tells me. "She is not controversial like Rosie and would be an inspiration to gay teens throughout the country."

I think it's genius!

Why is it when someone does not agree with immorality you automatically think we hate or that we are being judgmental?
No one who claims Christianity would think that homosexuality is ok. WE KNOW IT IS A SIN AND WILL NOT GO UNPUNISHED UNLESS THE PERSON REPENTS. So if you are a Christian you pray for their repentance you don't hate and that is not being judgmental.
I suppose when your child steals and you punish him/her for it you are being hateful and judgmental??? What a foolish concept. Homosexuality is a sin and no where in the Bible does it say to not call it that. And....no where in the Bible does it say for us to not tell them it is a sin.

I and my husband have been watching "Dancing with the Stars" for years now. If the producers think that putting same sex couples will make the show better, they are "so wrong"! First of all why do we need to see that, and secondly most "straight people" will quit watching the show. I know there are people like that out in the world, but it is not accepted within the quote "norm" of society. I don't need to have it shoved down my throat, and as a straight person married for 48 years, I will quit watching. As far as black and whites together, they cannot help what color their skins are. For homosexuals, it is a choice, and I don't believe that they were born that way or it is a genetic defect, it is a choice that is not normal, and it is offensive to most people! Think before you leap, because you will be signing the "death warrant" for dancing.

Most "straight people" will stop watching the show? LOL Is that why shows like Ellen, Queer Eye For The Straight Guy, countless prime time shows featuring same sex couples and even the MTV Logo Channel get millions and millions of viewers?

Is that why in Gallops poll last month, 78% of the population support homosexual couples? Only 12% do not support homosexual couples & 10% are undecided.

In other words- youre a backwards hillbilly whose views are outdated. Get with it lady.

the day they put a gay couple on there is the day I turn the channell.I don't mind that some people want to live that way,but keep it in the closet where it belongs. Don't ask everyone with normal views in our society to accept it as a normal alternative life style. In our society it is not yet considered normal. God in all his wisdom only lets people live to be around 100 years,because he knows you will not be able to handle the changes ahead.
I do not hate gays,have several as my friends. none has ever attempted to push their life style on me or rediculed me for not being supportive of it. Live and let live.

I hope they do! If they continue to push they gay lifestyle down everybody's throats perhaps shows like this would be off the air. Along with all of the pathetic reality shows that promote being a dumbsh** get's you paid!!!

Go to any wedding reception where the Aunties out number the Uncles in the room. There's your same sex dancing!

I prefer DWTS the same, predictable way they've always done it. Let Fox/Lifetime/WE do their own take on it, if there's a desire for something different
