'Design Star' Judge Vern Yip Expecting Baby No. 2

Vern Yip is expecting a second child with his partner, PEOPLE reports.

The couple became parents for the first time just 10 months ago when son Gavin Joshua Mannox was born. The pair, who are having the child via surrogate in March, are "thrilled," says Yip.

Adjusting to parenthood has been easy for the star, whose son "[Has] been on over 50 plane flights already."

"He's great on airplanes ... And ever since he started eating solids, he's been into eating whatever we're eating, and I love that," says Yip.

The 'Design Star' judge, who was recently appointed a UNICEF Ambassador for the United States, says he is glad to extend his enthusiasm for children to his new position. "I'm super excited about it," he says.

"I've got a great, healthy kid and hope to have a second," he says. "But there are so many children in the world who don't have the basic fundamentals that they need: water, access to vaccinations, the proper nutrition. Twenty-two thousand children die every day, and that's so preventable."

"There are a lot of kids out there who need us -- and it's our responsibility to help."

Okay, so why aren't you helping Vern? If there are so many kids currently out there it seems to reason that you wouldn't have to have to seek out and have a surrogate. Adopt a child that is currently waiting for a family instead of "placing an order" for a new one.

He says that kinda stuff to make himself look good in the public eye-but, doesnt really believe what he says--do as i say-not, as i do? scenario...let everybody else do it-while i do what i want....

Because he can't. Homosexual adoption is not allowed in most states. Sounds like he's helping in other ways.

50 plane rides already??? Vern - babies need stability. Keep the little guy grounded for a while. Let him sleep in is own crib and take him to Gymboree! He's a baby not a carry on bag!

his partner? what does that mean?? surrogate mother? these people should NOT be allowed around children. the kids will grow up with a warped sense of what is normal
