Gwyneth Paltrow proved her country chops at the 44th annual CMA Awards, where she sang the title track to her new movie, 'Country Strong.'The Oscar-winner gave an impressive performance, strumming an acoustic guitar while Vince Gill joined on rhythm guitar and harmony.
Gwyneth initially battled nerves and some discernible technical issues with audio equipment but triumphed by mid-song, gaining better vocal ground and managing to appear a lot more confident.
In 'Country Strong,' Paltrow plays Kelly Canter, a living legend in the music biz who is sidelined by alcoholism. Tim McGraw plays her manager/husband, who pulls her out of rehab in an attempt to resurrect her career with a comeback tour.
Does Gwyneth have a future in country music? Time will tell. But for now, she's got the brutal audition process out of the way and passed with flying colors. See her performance after the jump.

Charlie Brown's dog Snoopie is better than Taylor...
She sang in a movie with Huey Lewis and was great. Don't know why she has kept the talent hidden.

She sounds good. I dont like country music but I agreed that she can sing. I dont understand the hoopla about Taylor Swift. She is not a singer. Gwyneth sounds way better. I liked it.

LOVED IT.

She sounds great! I did not hear any technical problems. I saw Taylor Swift on Regis and Kelly, i know she is Young but the girl needs some voice lessons. How about those Chic-let teeth, why would someone so young do that?

Normally I am not a fan of her or her acting but that took some balls. Good for her. She sounded very good. You could see and hear her confidence growing throughout the song. Well done Goopy!

I admire her. She is really a great singer. I've heard her sing before and my jaw dropped back then too. She is an awesome country singer too. What a talented lady.

I loved her performance!

This proves it. I am out of step with the rest of the world. I thought she sang so-so and looked very awkward and strummed the guitar like she didn't have enough energy left to actually pluck the strings.

Then if Paltrow diidn't do it for you, Taylor Swift must have been something to consider slicing your wrists over.
Good job by Gwyneth Paltrow. She is definitely a better singer than Taylor Swift.

What a pleasant surprise for the show ending. She did a great job and I was impressed how she held her own in front the "Country" crowd. Can't say the same for Taylor Swift's performance!

Paltrow should stick to "acting". She has all the sex appeal of a Totes folding umbrella.

I have 35yrs experience in the music business. As far as Gweneth's performance, she nailed it! Her voice was strong, she held pitch, and her phrasing was spot on. Obviously, everyone has a different idea of what they are looking for as far as entertainment, but from this sound engineer's viewpoint she was superb. She has such a pure voice. I would love to be front-of house-engineer for her performance. What a treat. Loved it!
