Harrison Ford, who's making the rounds promoting 'Morning Glory,' doesn't do much to combat the "curmudgeon" label he wears around his neck, although he does have a certain fondness for poking a little fun at 'Star Wars' creator George Lucas, so it's pretty tough to complain.
The latest dollop of Ford crankiness comes from a new ABC interview in which the actor, 68, bemoans the lack of a Han Solo death scene in the third 'Star Wars' film:
"As a character, he was not so interesting to me," Ford admits during a sit-down with movie critic Peter Travers. "I thought he should have died in the last one."
And he follows up with an amusing quip about how Lucas would've had trouble selling "dead Han" toys. Oh, Harrison, you rascally little cynic, you.
Married since June to Calista Flockhart (the longtime couple are raising 9-year-old Liam), Ford hit the red carpet this week for the New York City premiere of 'Morning Glory,' costarring Diane Keaton and Rachel McAdams. And it's clear his career is now galaxies away from the Lucas blockbuster that made him a household name, when sci-fi fans first fell in love with Han Solo.
Still, for loyal 'Star Wars' fans, the question remains: Should Han Solo have died at some point in the original trilogy? Isn't it the sidekick's (okay, secondary hero's) role to sacrifice his life for the good fight? Or do you prefer believing that Han Solo and Princess Leia are presently enjoying their half-human and oddly half-Ewok grandchildren back on Endor somewhere?
It's all moot at this point, of course, but one thing's for certain: No matter what film Harrison Ford is trying to hawk, he'll always (always!) get a bunch of goofy 'Star Wars' questions lobbed his way.
Jon Hamm, star of the hit series "Mad Men", is spotted filming scenes for the upcoming season. Jon was all smiles while filming in a red, vintage Imperial convertible.
Jeremy, please get off Mr. Franczak's back. He was responding to the Popeater question that appeared with this article, so it is considered fair game here.
Relax everyone, I'm sure he was kidding around and knew he would get this kind of reaction! He's promoting a movie, he needs to put himself out there, make some noise. That said, he looks 78 and has only had two expressions for the last 10 or so years! I like Calista and hope they are having a happy life together.
They are both Losers. He was a stupid Fool who walked away from a long time marriage and many kids to a Golddigging chick whose son was aging out of the huge Child Support check she was getting and needed another sucker to Drain. Men are So stupid! Young women Do Not Want old men unless they are Rich! They don't care about the men at all, it could be anyone. They Always get Pregnant right away so they can get Child Support for 18 years, even if the "relationship" doesn't last. She made a Fool of him but he made a Fool of himself as well. Too bad Mel, you fell for her tricks and now you Have to pay! Should have stayed home, hun?
That's a shame he thinks that way. It was an excellent role for him and he played it very nicely. The character had an authenticity many heroes and villians lack. He should be proud of his acting in Star Wars, I've always felt it was one of the best portrayals any character has done. Han Solo was too much of a survivor for his death to be credible.
Harrison, get over yourself. Anyone who reads the books knows what happened to Han,Leia and their children. the story is bigger than you. You are just an actor I used to like.
ME TOO! Along with Harrison Fords Career! Hes always been a no talent, lousy actor. Goodbye Hans solo and goodbye mr ford. wont be seeing Morning Glory, because of you and Diane Keaton.. sorry Rachel, you should of never signed on with those 2 hasbeens.
He was good in Clear and Present Danger, Patriot Games The Fugitive and What Lies Beneath. IMO when he has more thoughtful roles where he's reacting to an out of control environment he's at his best.
I was a casting extra in "Extraordinary Measures".......Harrison Ford was on the set and it was the hardest thing for me to not look at him.....I find him so darned sexy.....he has the most expressive, piercing, eyes.....
Meh, this is not a new story. It's been around for a couple of decades. And Han Solo dying in "Jedi" would not have eliminated the demand for Han toys as Darth Vader, Obi-Wan and Yoda toys continue to be bought despite their respective character's deaths.
Sorry to hear/read some of the posts that are negative about Harrison Ford. I think he's a great actor. To have all of that money and fame and to still be very humble is one of the things I like about Harrison Ford. To bad all the actors can't be that way!!
Forget all the BS about Star Wars. Just seen Morning Glory and I have to say it was a good movie with a message .it's been a long time since i laughed so hard at the movies.Go see it ,you won't be disappointed.

Jeremy,
LOVE it! Has that great tongue in cheek effect the original films went for.
Will someone please remind Mr.Franczak that this post is about HARRISON FORD, NOT CONAN O'BRIEN.
Stick to the relevant subject matter, log off and go watch Nickelodeon with the rest of the children.

Man I'd be a curmudgeon too if I had to wake up and roll over and see Calista laying next to me...whew...what a way to start the day...

If it weren't for han solo, we'd be saying Harrison who? He should be real thankful for han solo.

Lame. This was old news 20 years ago, he's never hidden his belief that Han should have been killed off. Sad that this is in any way newsworthy...

It is very fortunate, that actors and writers don't mix.
Actors do not have the objectivity to write stories or
screenplays for movies.
