Singer and Rapper Ne-Yo Welcomes Baby Girl

Daddy duty has begun for singer Ne-Yo, whose girlfriend, Monyetta Shaw, gave birth Friday night in an Atlanta hospital -- several weeks early -- according to People.com. It's the couple's first child, a daughter named Madilyn Grace Smith.

An Atlanta radio station reported that Ne-Yo, 31, was attending a benefit for his charitable foundation, but was able to make it to the hospital in time for the delivery. A rep for the musician confirmed Madilyn's birth.

"I'm very, very, very excited," the singer and songwriter (who has collaborated on hits for Beyonce and Rihanna) told Ebony magazine (via MTV) earlier this year, about expecting his first child. The due date had been in January.

The Arkansas native was entangled in a paternity drama back in 2005, when he discovered his then-girlfriend's infant son was not his biological child. The former couple reportedly entered into litigation, but Ne-Yo kept details under wraps.

Following Madilyn's arrival, the proud papa jumped online to update fans on Saturday. "Much luv to my twit fam and everybody showin' luv to my new addition!!" Ne-Yo tweeted. "She's healthy and happy. Feels like I'm in luv for the first time."

The hitmaker's new album, 'Libra Scale,' is due Nov. 22.

get over it there have been illegitament children in the entertainment business for generations Liza Todd Burton though her parents were married when she was born was considered illegitament because she was conceived while they were both still married to other people. I love the babies name though I've always had a soft spot for Grace because of oscar winner Grace Kelly [who died Her Serene Highness Princess Grace Gimaldi of Monaco 14th September 1982 aged 52 from injuries sustained in a car accident the dad before}. not many actresses/actors of her era are still alive some among them are Clint Eastwood Joanne Woodward Elizabeth Taylor Jacqueline Bisset and James Cann

Interesting. I'm happy for them, and glad to get clear on the other child situation. I was pretty sure I'd read Ne-Yo already had a child a couple of years back, even saw pics of them together. He looked like a proud dad, but my immediate reaction was, "That is NOT his baby. Some woman's put one over on that man." Glad that's all worked out, and that he had the 'manliness' to take care of his business out of the public eye, for the sake of all involved.

Its ridiculous how appalled people are that this couple had their first child together but arent married. And yet look at how many kids Brad and Angelina have and have no intentions to tie the knot. If you ask me, they're the ones without morals because look at how they're relationship started.
