Marriage is such a scam to begin with. The idea that you sign a piece of paper and you automatically stay together for the rest of your life and it guarantees that you'll never be cheated on or get divorced. People are so delusional. And we all know that all Jessica is thinking about is the dress and the cake and the pictures because she's that vapid. God, if that's all you want, just throw a wedding and don't sign anything. Then when you do break up (and they WILL) you just go your separate ways and you don't end up in court fighting over who gets this fork or that plate.
Marriage is about ownership, the government having control over your lives and your relationship, and most importantly, it serves only to demean other relationships, as if to say there's something "wrong" with you if you just love someone but don't sign anything. And look out if you happen to love someone of the same sex - in that case, your relationship doesn't matter at all. What a beautiful institution.

Eric doesn't have his own money, so the likelihood is Jess purchased her own ring. She seems like a sweet girl, but she would have married any one of the men she dated prior to this one. He'll be set for life if he stays married to her for even a few years.
