'Sarah Palin's Alaska' Scores TLC's Highest Ratings Ever

'Sarah Palin's Alaska' set a ratings record for TLC on Sunday night, notching 5 million viewers for the premiere, a number Gawker calls "huge for cable."

The show, part reality TV, part documentary travel series, is an eight-parter following the omnipresent Republican showing off her native state.

"Some are calling the series a 2012 campaign ad," notes The Hollywood Reporter, "while producer Mark Burnett [of 'Survivor' fame] has defended the show as 'completely non political.' "

Although TLC has recorded higher viewer counts -- hi, 10 million fans of 'Jon & Kate Plus Eight'! -- 'Sarah Palin's Alaska' wins the biggest premiere award by a mile.

And lest ye forget Bristol Palin's continuing saga on tonight's 'Dancing With the Stars,' the 'Alaska' star's daughter told E! Online: "We are competing for ratings!"

I didn't think that it was very smart to have the kids on a boat that close to the bears. Cause you never know what will happen when there is baby's are there.In my book that is in dangering the welfare of a child.

I love Sara's Alaska show. Apart from seeing what a down to earth mother she really is and her kids act out like any other families it is wonderful to see Alaska through their eyes. No the wonder she is a tough gutsy woman living up there and doing what she does. Bravo. I hope she runs for President and wins we need someone who can do the job and not be afraid of all those idiots in the White House and Government and media and some one the TALK shows The View) in particular who keeep trying to knock her down. I admire her greatly for her strength and a great sense of who she is a devoted wife, loving mother and a true American.

im an x yukoner and really like the show and have really warmed up to Sarah , the episode with kate, i noticed that the "firearms Instructor" had pointed the shotguns all in an unsafe manner and then grabbed the barrel of one and raised it towards kates head!!
you never point a gun at anything unless you plan on putting a hole in it !!

I am a Demorcate,Liberal..and I sure do not sit and watch her show and think what her politicial beliefs are... her show is about her "LIFE" Not her political career!!!
