Former 'Idol' Chris Daughtry and Wife Welcome Twins

It's a boy and a girl! Rocker Chris Daughtry and wife Deanna welcomed fraternal twins Wednesday morning, according to Daughtry's website. Baby girl Adalynn Rose arrived first at 11:06 a.m. and weighed 6 lbs. 5 oz. and brother Noah James followed at 11:35 a.m., weighing 5 lbs. and 5oz.

"Our family is overwhelmed with joy by these two precious gifts from God," the singer said on his site. "The babies are both healthy and resting. Thanks to everyone for their love and prayers."

The twins, who were conceived through gestational surrogacy, will join older siblings 13-year-old Hannah and 11-year-old Griffin--both from Deanna's previous marriage.

When they announced the pregnancy in May, the 'American Idol' alumni said, "Deanna and I are overjoyed about this double blessing. Thank you for your expressions of love and support and for respecting our privacy during this special time."

This is a great story! Surrogacy provides an opportunity for numerous couples around the world to bring a new addition into their family. Surrogacy also can be a contentious issue, though, as well, depending on the laws in place to regulate the practice. As an American living in Thailand, I see the challenges and opportunities presented by Surrogacy Law in Thailand , and it's a very different story than the regulation of surrogacy in the United States. In Thailand, it was only recently that a law was proposed to actually regulate the practice here.
