Kal Penn, famous for his pothead role in the 'Harold & Kumar' franchise, is returning to a job in the White House, according to ABC News. After taking a brief hiatus to film the upcoming 'A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas,' the actor will return to a new position as an Associate Director in the Office of Public Engagement. His first day back in Washington was Nov. 15.
Back in July 2009, Penn made headlines after he left Hollywood to join the Obama administration as a liaison to the Asian American and arts communities. He also was extensively involved in campaigning for Obama back in 2008 when he concentrated on energizing young voters-even leaving a plum role on TV's hit show 'House' to do so.
According to the ABC News, even while he was away filming, Penn was still very involved in the political arena, making appearances for California Sen. Barbara Boxer and Nevada Sen. Harry Reid.

I thought Kal Penn was excellent in House! I still can't believe that they killed him off like that!

It was his decision to leave House, and that is why they killed him off.
What in hell does he think this is, an Xmas season job?

It's great that he is expanding his horizons!

It figures the lazy, spineless Obama administration would have a pot-movie actor working for them. Ridiculous.

That is simply the dumbest thing anyone can say. Its a freaking movie. You act like all actors are the way they are in movies.
Sean Penn, Kal Penn: morons

Having a hard time understanding how anyone can think that this is okay??? An actor who quits his television job takes a position at the White House, takes a 'break' from the White House job to film a goofball movie. Is this really happening?! Where is the professionalism and respect and integrity for working for the government? Why are we allowing America to be dumbed down like this?

Four words: Sarah Palin for President
Does't get any dumber than that!
Four words: Sarah Palin for President

Really? Politician (governor) runs for national office (presidency) and gets beaten. Quits office that she was ELECTED to hold to "work for all of America". Her definition of work for America is to tweet snide remarks on twitter, and post sarcastic opinions on facebook. Oh, and to work for FoxNews Entertainment as a contributor, write (sign as author) books, and do faux reality show spotlighting the state she walked away from. Penn is an actor, that is what he does; as opposed to Palin, who was governor, but governing is NOT what she does.
I think he was still looking for White Castle, and got confused with White House. Its not too late to turn back.

What does it tell you about this administration that it wants a man famous for playing a pothead in movies to represent it to the public? This makes me ill.

Like the Republicans had an actor that played second banana to a monkey?
Or someone who's a alcoholic and coke snorter to represent us.
yeah , what these people said --Like the Republicans had an actor that played second banana to a monkey ?
Or someone who's a alcoholic and coke snorter to represent us?
both were republicans.
The "coke snorter" is still in the White House. Says a lot about the people who voted him in.
Reagan was in the movies, then head of the actors' union, then governor of California, then President. Bush had his college years and addictions, and overcame them. But Clinton didn't inhale and couldn't figure out where to put his cigar. How about that, libs
