Kal Penn Returns to White House After Shooting 'Harold & Kumar 3'Kal Penn, famous for his pothead role in the 'Harold & Kumar' franchise, is returning to a job in the White House, according to ABC News. After taking a brief hiatus to film the upcoming 'A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas,' the actor will return to a new position as an Associate Director in the Office of Public Engagement.

His first day back in Washington was Nov. 15.

Back in July 2009, Penn made headlines after he left Hollywood to join the Obama administration as a liaison to the Asian American and arts communities. He also was extensively involved in campaigning for Obama back in 2008 when he concentrated on energizing young voters-even leaving a plum role on TV's hit show 'House' to do so.

According to the ABC News, even while he was away filming, Penn was still very involved in the political arena, making appearances for California Sen. Barbara Boxer and Nevada Sen. Harry Reid.
