Kal Penn Returns to White House After Shooting 'Harold & Kumar 3'

Kal Penn, famous for his pothead role in the 'Harold & Kumar' franchise, is returning to a job in the White House, according to ABC News. After taking a brief hiatus to film the upcoming 'A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas,' the actor will return to a new position as an Associate Director in the Office of Public Engagement.

His first day back in Washington was Nov. 15.

Back in July 2009, Penn made headlines after he left Hollywood to join the Obama administration as a liaison to the Asian American and arts communities. He also was extensively involved in campaigning for Obama back in 2008 when he concentrated on energizing young voters-even leaving a plum role on TV's hit show 'House' to do so.

According to the ABC News, even while he was away filming, Penn was still very involved in the political arena, making appearances for California Sen. Barbara Boxer and Nevada Sen. Harry Reid.

'A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas' is scheduled to hit theaters during the 2011 holiday season.

I was always wondering why they killed him off of House so suddenly because he was great on that show. But I am glad that he is trying to do something good by working for the current administration in the government and that he isn't just all about acting.

Why is anyone surprised at this. Someone who is famous for promoting a lifestyle that the White House approves because it gets to their constituency(stoned youth and aging hippies)who want nothing more than a legalized drug lifestyle. An entirely appropriate movie for drugs for this administration to use as a sigil of its general liberal philosophy and policies. And what is this Office of Engagement? Is this a dating service for the staff or selling jewelry to the political women Obam has shipped in to the administration?

Kal Penn is great!He is also smart and very professional in person. I met him while he youred military bases for the USO, he was awesome and I think that having him working for the White House is great! Not all celebrities are uneducated!
