Pink and Carey Hart Are Having a Baby Girl

The rumors are true -- Pink is going to be a mom. The pop star and husband Carey Hart are expecting their first child, and doctors believe Pink is having a girl.

"My mom has always wished me a daughter just like me," Pink said on 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show,' airing Wednesday. "I'm terrified one of us will go to jail."

The singer prompted pregnancy rumors when she stepped out on the beach with an apparent baby bump. Pink kept the news a secret for personal reasons. "I didn't want to talk about it because I was just really nervous and I have had a miscarriage before," she said.

Last week, a source told Us Weekly that the singer is 12 weeks along. "She wanted to do it between tours, when she has some time off," the insider revealed.

Pink, real name Alecia Moore, and Hart, a motocross racer, tied the knot in 2006, but separated two years later. In February, she confirmed to Oprah Winfrey that they were back together.

Since when could you tell the sex of a baby at three months into pregnancy? Somebody either has false facts or is lying.

Since she's had a miscarriage before she maybe under the care of a maternal-fetal specialist as well as an OB/GYN. As such she'd be getting regular ultrasounds every few weeks.

The sex of the baby is typically developed by the 10th week. An internal ultrasound (aka vaginal ultrasound) can determine the sex between the 10th & 11th weeks. By the 12th week a normal ultrasound can determine the sex. Technology is marvelous!

FYI: With 4-D ultrasound technology getting better it's going to be easier for doctors to determine the sex by the 10th week using a normal ultrasound. If you don't believe me about 4-D ultrasounds look it up.

Actually Melu, the sex of a baby at 10 weeks gestation would look identical for both genders. While at 12/13 weeks there is a nub that you may see on an ultrasound that can somewhat indicate what sex the baby may be, it is not 100% accurate.

Anyway, congrats to the happy couple; wishing them a happy and healthy 9 months!

Perhaps she had amniocentesis, which can be done in the early stages of a pregnancy. It's used to determine abnormalities such as downs syndrome or fetal infections. It's also 100% effective in determining gender. When the samples of amniotic fluid are taken, they contain some fetal tissue, ie. either XY (male) or XX (female)chromosomes.
