Report: Tony Danza Yells At Priest During Funeral

Funerals are never easy for anyone, but on Nov. 11, Tony Danza was apparently very tense at the ceremony memorializing writer Philip Carlo. In the middle of the eulogy, a dissatisfied Danza allegedly flipped out on the priest at the Peter C. La Bella Funeral Home in Brooklyn, a witness told the
New York Post.
"Tony, who was one of Carlo's closest friends, walked right up to the priest and said angrily, 'Excuse me, but this is not about you. It's supposed to be about my friend, and if you can't do that, maybe you should let someone else speak!'" the source claimed.
According to the report, the priest was a substitute from a federal prison and was visibly disturbed by Danza's outburst.
"People were stunned, while the priest was visibly shaken," the source said. "He tried talking about Carlo before quickly wrapping things up. Danza took over and eulogized Carlo with memories from their younger days."
Guests included big names like Mickey Rourke, Chuck Zito, Danny Aiello and John "Cha Cha" Ciarcia.
Carlo died of Lou Gehrig's disease on Nov. 8 at age 61. He was best known for his bestselling biographies of mobsters and killers, including Richard "The Night Stalker" Ramirez and Richard "The Iceman" Kuklinski.

I can understand how he felt. I too have attended funerals of loved ones, and felt that the wrong person had been given the job of eulogizing them, either because they didn't know them as well as others did (or didn't know them at all). But I just sat silently and fumed.
I can't blame him for correcting the situation if he thought he could. The dead only have ONE funeral.

I agree with you. I went to one funeral where the priest started out saying so and so was an active church member for 36 years and till the day he died, and then went on to mispronounce his name repeatedly. Asked his family from the pulpit about him and it was obvious he didn't know a thing about the man. I was heart sore for the family. He even asked from the pulpit how many kids did he have.
A eulogy is suppose to be talking about the memories and life of the deceased. What Tony did was very wrong and very inappropriate to do at that time. Also, Tony looks like he's 50 years old........ewwwwwww

Jolly, He looks like he's 50 probably because he IS 50. Don't mean to rain on your ignorance but there's no guarantee YOU'LL make it to 50. You may want to enlighten yourself and respect the wisdom of your elders because they've had a life. Here's hoping you get hit by a bus.
that's because he's over fifty, you goon ball. Lmao look into it. You would look fifty if you were fifty. Geez, and these are the people who are gonna take care of the older generation. Oye Vay, r we doomed
Actually I agree with Tony danza, The memories are to be captured and what great that person brought to all, as for Tony's age he is well over 50 , try 60's
Actually he will be 60 next April but who's counting
Tony Danza (born April 21, 1951)=> 59 years old. So what you're saying is he looks really good for his age?
tony is 59 years old
he is over 50 you moron! I think he looks good for his age.
Jolly, He looks like 50...eeeewwww??? What kind of idiot are you?
I say eeeewwww to your ignorance.eeeewwww to your ugly soul.If you are lucky enough to live to be 50, or 60,or 70 or say eeewwww 80, i hope no one is so disrespectful and uneducated about life to say something like that about you. Ignorance about the important things in life is HUGE with this current generation.
I have been to too many funerals and weddings who don't anything about the person they are eulogizing or marrying. I can't blame him. It was his friend and they use a substitute priest?

I couldn't disagree with Ken more. If ever there was a time to speak specifically about THAT person, this would be it. Too many times lately I've heard priests talk about their own experiences, not about the deceased. Without the Eulogy the ceremony is too generic. For many people , it's their last chance to learn something unique about that person.

I used to like him but saw him on Larry King, what an imbecile. And that show where he's a teacher, please. He should have kept his mouth shut until they asked if anyone would like to say something personal about the deceased. That's how it's done.

So many peole have npo religious affilation with any church and thus, grab anyone to do a service. That is what they got. How can one eulogise someone they don't know personally?

I have been at funerals where they forgot who died, none of the
vertiage sounded like the deceased. It was awful to hear, I think
Tony could have used more tact, he got too emotional in stating what he did. He could have just said, "Sorry Father I realize you
are a fill in today, but let me help you out in describing what
a wonderful man my friend was and I will lead this group in
celebrating his life" What he did was wrong and crude.

Typical Dumb Catholics!
Difference between a Catholic wedding & a Catholic funeral? One less drunk at the funeral!

And how long have you been waiting to use that old, tired joke. Probably the smartest thing you've ever said and it wasn't even yours. Go back to the basement and play with yourself, moron.
