Heidi Klum's Beauty Secret: 'Don't Be Too Thin!'

Supermodel Heidi Klum reveals in the December issue of Self that the secret to keeping wrinkles at bay isn't Botox -- it's a few extra pounds.

"The ultimate beauty secret for a woman getting older is, Don't be too thin! It is always better to have a little meat on your bones. When you are just muscle, you end up being gaunt in the face, and that makes you look older by five or 10 years," Klum tells the mag.

But that doesn't mean getting lazy and avoiding workouts.

"One of the best parts about season eight of 'Project Runway' being taped in New York City was that I went running every morning. I had a watch that counts the miles and the little thing you put on your shoe that measures each step. Over seven weeks, I ran 120 miles! I don't love running, but I do like to see everything getting tighter and toned."

The supermom of four says she isn't afraid of the aging process. "I don't have anxiety about it, so I'm not running to get Botox. Maybe that will change, but I don't think so. I feel comfortable in my skin and comfortable with aging, so I think it's OK that I get wrinkles," she admits.

Of course, part of not stressing about life stems from her happy five-year marriage to singer Seal, who she says keeps her grounded and fulfilled.

"Part of why we're so good together is that, in a lot of ways, we're opposites. I'm speedy, and I don't like sitting still for long. My husband is the most patient person I've ever met. He can explain something to the children for hours, and I will just say, 'OK, this is how it is.' We're both really creative people. We may have some different passions, but we love and respect and trust each other," Klum says.

Heidi is absolutely right on about not being too thin as we age. I am 68 and look like I am 10 years younger because I am what I consider to be pleasantly plump. I have very few wrinkles for my age and full cheeks. I do have the nasal lines that run from the nose past the mouth and my jaw line is beginning to sag a bit but that is the natural process of aging and I am at peace with that. The worst thing I could have is a Restalane face and Botox mask like so many women and when you look at their neck, hands etc. it's a give away as to their age. That kind of face is just not pretty at all.

You are right aboutnot being too thin..Women over 50 that are bone thin generally look like shriveled up old hags..I am 54 and people think im in my early 40s tops..Of course proper nutrition matters..Ihave started drinking fresh vegetable juice every day and it really improves the look of the skin.

Heidimdoes look pretty still. And its great shes not into the botox thing, that everyone else in hollywood does.
And she is certainly correct about having extra weight.
I have seen older woman, like myself, being too thin.
No one looks good when their skinny. It makes anyone look sickly, in my book.
The thinner I get the older I look, and so does all woman, and men. Having a few extra pounds on, helps to fill in the little lines around ones features. And keeps the face from looking gauntly.

As a mother Heidi she's the worst example for a child...only because she posed naked.By the way she's not what seems to appear on television....she's rude,pretentious and most of all a lousy mom to her 3 or 4 kids.
