Russell Simmons on Kanye's Apology to W: 'Why Do That S**t?'

When Russell Simmons and the gorgeous cadre of ladies that work and star with him in his reality show,
'Running Russell Simmons,' stopped by
'Naughty But Nice With Rob,' you know I had to ask him about Kanye West, who recently apologized to President George W. Bush for past comments. Russell was none too pleased with the star's mea culpa and said the star was just saying what everyone was thinking.
"I'm a little bit disappointed that he apologized to George Bush. I felt like, why do that s**t?" Russell told me. "Kanye says things that people think but don't always get to say, so when he says 'George Bush don't like black people,' it was what millions of Americans thought and felt."
For more on what Russell has to say about Kayne, President Obama and why women can run his life better than men, tune into
'Naughty But Nice With Rob' airing Saturday at 1:00pm and 7:00pm only on
HDNet where we are already a hit. How do I know? Just ask the big wigs at the network.
"HDNet is thrilled with the success of 'Naughty But Nice with Rob Shuter,'" said Jeff Cuban, Executive Vice President, HDNet. "We knew we had a hit on our hands when we signed Rob, and after seeing the show, we were sure that our audience would love him too! Right out of the box, his exclusive interviews with Danielle Staub of 'Real Housewives of New Jersey' and Angelina from 'Jersey Shore,' were a huge hit and we're looking forward to a long and successful relationship with Rob."

This guy creeps me out worse than kayne, but I do agree, once you have grown up, don't ever apologize for your opinions. Grow up and out of them, get new information and change your stance, but never apologize.

If he'd FRAMED it as an opinion instead of the way he did it, which made it seem like fact, then I'd agree with you. But the truth of the matter is, Kanye West doesn't have a clue how GWB feels about black people and to state that he doesn't care, means that somehow, Kanye knows what's in the man's mind and heart. Since I know for a FACT that Kanye isn't God, I know for a fact that he has no clue what is in Bush's mind and heart. Russell Simmons needs to grow up a little. You see, when GROWNUPS say something they shouldn't, they act like grownups and apologize. That's the one thing Kanye West has done right so far, as far as I can see.
WELL....just like Kanye, Simmons has his facts all wrong! No-one thinks Bush is racist, so who are these millions he made up in his mind? just like Kanye who had no truth to back up his statement,at least he apologized that is what one does when they are incorrect, the truth is, Simmons IS a racist and trouble monger.
Kayne make a dumb statement and corrected that mistake. He just let his mouth get two steps ahead of his brain. It happens to people from time to time.
First I would like to point out that there were other Race's besides Black people affected by the floods. But leave it to some RACIST Black people to make it all about Black people and forget the other Race's.
Kanye said some things he shouldn't have and he saw he was wrong and made amends. Good for him it shows that he is maturing into a Man. Everyone makes mistakes and admitting to them and apologizing for them is a mature thing to do.
What an immature stance on apologizing. Never say never on that one. Being man enough to admit that a PUBLIC opinion that turned out to be misinformed was a mistake is a positive trait. One that more people should be able to cultivate. If you find you have publicly smeared someones reputation and you later feel you were wrong, the only way to set things right is to be just as public in your remonstrations.

Maybe no-talent Taylor Swift will start to sing (off-key) on the music awards tonight and Kanye will jerk the microphone out of her hand. Now THAT would be good entertainment!!!!

Russell Simmons is full of himself, with his remarks. Time to shut up, the one about dating heavy girls was so not necessary from a tiny, tiny man.

Russell and Kanye were wrong. Had they stated Bush does not care about "People", that would have been accurate!

Hey Russell, don't speak for me. I'm white and I never thought the reason behind the Katrina mess, was because George Bush didn't care about black people. I just thought that they were very disorganized and not able to respond properly. The goverment was/is a mess and they don't have the right people in the right positions to run things. New Orleans has red people too. They also have brown, white and yellow, just like every where else in our beautiful country. I had family down there who couldn't get out. We didn't know where they were or if they were alive for 3 weeks. My 3 year old cousin had a head injury and nearly died because they couldn't get any medical attention. I'm not a fan of W but I also don't think he's a racist, nor do I think Kanye should have said that on national tv at a time when we really needed to be unified as a country and not seen as different colors. Have you ever noticed that when Kanye is in the headlines, it's not because he has something positive to say or do.

I second that!

Exactly.
Russell Who? Or should I say Russell who cares?

Who cares what he thinks? I have to admit I don't even know what Russell Simmons has ever done. I thought he was an excercize schmuck but that must be incorrect. Whatever his profession is,it has no effect on me,and his thoughts don't either.
