Lindsay Lohan's 'Inferno' Replacement: 'Couples Retreat' Star Malin Akerman

Required to remain in rehab until January for court-ordered substance-abuse treatment, Lindsay Lohan has parted ways professionally with 'Inferno' director Matthew Wilder, who championed the actress in recent weeks but found it "impossible" to move forward on his already delayed production schedule with her as his leading lady.

Now comes word that filming will begin with a new star, Malin Akerman, playing the role of Linda Lovelace. Wilder's biopic is based on the late porn star's autobiography, published in the '80s after Lovelace denounced her 'Deep Throat' stardom, claiming she was coerced into pornography at gunpoint by a cruel husband.

Akerman, 32 and a native of Sweden, played Vince Vaughn's wife in the comedy 'Couples Retreat,' and sizzled as Laurie Jupiter / Silk Spectre II in 'Watchmen.' She'll soon be seen with Jennifer Aniston in Judd Apatow's 2011 film 'Wanderlust.'

When Wilder began talking to the press about Lohan's departure from the project, he said, "We've already lined up somebody else who we are really happy with."

Lohan's publicist, meanwhile, has made it clear that her client was never fired, but chose to walk away from the dark, dramatic role. A source tells RadarOnline, "Lindsay has realized that in order to get her life and career back on track, she has to be very selective with her projects," the insider says. "She wants to pursue projects like the ones that made her successful....She also realizes that she doesn't need to identify with roles that relate to issues she dealt with. Everyone on her treatment team has stressed that."

Lohan is due to reside in the Betty Ford Center until Jan. 3.

I believe she was fired, she would have done the movie after rehab, cuz she needs the money. Who knows, surprised momma Dina won't talk the director about letting Lilo be the star. As we all know, Lindsay needs to work, not Dina.

Makin Akerman-excellent! Good break for a talented acteress. Lindsay Lohan is a really bad actress and honestly could not even graps the concepts of this story and movie anyway. Lohan is never going to be able to NOT be in some rehab. If she is keeps her leech mother around her and she may end up dead as an OD-that woman is toxic and has scammed all of her daughter's money from her anyway after taking advantage of her daughter.
LL is over with-who is goig to insure a movie with her in it? no one iwht even half a brain. No talent-no self control and a drug addict.

I think Lohan was a great choice for the part of Linda Lovelace. In my opinion, it would have jump-started her stagnant career. If anyone recalls, Mark Walberg played (loosely) the part of John Holmes in "Boogie Nights," which was a damn good movie! Burt Reynolds was nominated for an Academy Award for his part. Too bad for Lohan. I don't think she's going to be offered many roles.

Apparently, Joan, you didn't follow porn in the early 70s. Linda Lovelace was the Angelina Jolie of the porn industry. With her movie "Deep Throat," she brought porn into the main stream. I think that movie (adjusted for inflation) has made more money than any other. There are several books out on Lovelace. All of them are a good read.
