Prince William Will Have Most Expensive Wedding of All Time -- And Guess Who's Paying?

Although no date has been officially confirmed yet, the costs of putting on a royal wedding for
Prince William and Kate Middleton next year have already started to add up, leading many to confirm this will be the most expensive celebrity wedding of all time.
"When all is said and done, this wedding will likely cost the British taxpayers over $20 million dollars," a royal insider tells me. "It will be the biggest wedding of all time, even bigger than William's mum, Diana's -- and the price will be bigger, too."
We are no strangers to expensive celebrity weddings. Back in 1991, when Elizabeth Taylor married construction worker Larry Fortensky at Michael Jackson's Neverland Ranch, the estimated cost was $2 million. A similar price tag was put on Tom Cruise's magical wedding in 2006 to Katie Holmes -- Italy's 15th-century Odescalchi Castle outside Rome did not come cheap, and neither did Katie's off-the-shoulder silk gown, which was personally designed for her by Giorgio Armani. Not to be outdone, Elizabeth Hurley's 2007 wedding to Arun Nayar cost more than $2.5 million, with extravagant, around-the-world festivities spanning over a week.
Surprisingly, former Beatle Paul McCartney and now-ex-wife Heather Mills' wedding ranks as the second most expensive celebrity wedding with a price tag of over $3 million for the affair in Ireland.
However, William and Kate's costs will crush the estimated $3.5 million record-holders, Liza Minnelli and David Gest, who said "I do" in 2002 in New York City.
"You really can't compare this wedding to any other celebrity's," a Hollywood insider tells me. "The only other couple in the world that might even come close is if Brad and Angelina got married, but even then this will be bigger."
William, said to be concerned about the extravagance of his wedding in a time of such high unemployment in Britain, need not worry as the amount of tourism money and other related earnings this special day will bring into the country will be ... yes, priceless.

Way too much money for a wedding, and the tax payers will pay for it? Why can't the family pay for it? They should run away and elope.

Well, Jay, I'm not jealous and I think it's obscene that taxpayers have money extorted from their paychecks....money that could have gone to buy health insurance, education, food and clothing for the taxpayers families....to pay for a royal wedding. The royals have plenty of money. Let them pay for their own party. Jealousy has nothing to do with it. Priorities based on principles do.
why should the tax payer pay for this wedding ? The tax payersd dont pay for these poor people and other for a wedding. this is not right .......
Having a queen is silly.
And guess whose economy also gets a £640m tourist boost from the wedding, you daily mail-style reactionary retards

The French have been cowards and the culture was lost after the King was overthrown. Everything they think they have today can be traced back to the BOURBONS
I don't understand why the tax payers have to cover it when they will be raking in all the extra tourism money. Why can't that be used instead? Government and politics, can't live with it, can't...

what a collosal waste of money.these spoiled brats need to give thier heads a long shake.that so called 'royal family" has everyone fooled into thinking they are above everyone else.historicaly, the idea of 'royalty' is nothing more than being an extremely professional hoarder. Is that worthy of any honour these days? really?I am not alone with my thought on this blatant slap in the face of anyone living from a small paycheck if you are fortunate enough to have even that.

All the royal family does is take, take, take from the poor people. The Royal family has more money than God & they rarely do anything charitable for anyone. I say get rid of the king & queen thing. It is obsolete & useless. It is definitely not working for the people. And I think the Royal family should absolutely pay for this circus of a wedding.
The British have a Monarchy, and proud to say so, who cares how much it costs. Hes the future KING and shes probably the future QUEEN of BRITAIN. They bring more in tourist money than any Repbulic does. So i say GOD SAVE THE KING! LONG LIVE THE MONARCHY! RULE BRITANNIA! (jealous much?)

jealous of a culture living 200 years in the past? get a grip...
It seems very cold-hearted for the Brits to say they would prefer to skip Charles as King, and go straight to Wills and Kate. They should consider that Charles endured during his upbringing, and his volatile marriage to Diana. I would venture to say it is tremendously hurtful to the sons of Diana and Charles to have the public taking such a nasty view of Charles.

PLEASE!!!! He was at least 10 yrs older than her and already knew he didn't love her. He entered into the marriage with a lie on his lips. An arrogent , self centered jerk. She found out quickly that there was someone else and it was heartbreaking for sure. Too bad she wasn't older she might have seen through the rotten fairytale she fell into. I'm sure everyone close enough knew the score before the I do's were said. I can't imagine what it would be like for a young, new bride to find herself living a lie that everyone around her not only knew about but expected her to just shut up and live with. These people are ugly, ugly, ugly.
Spare us the details which which be pushed upon us for the next 6 months and just go take off somewhere obscure and get married. The money the Royals make their citizens pay for their own ridiculous pomp is a travesty. Of course, we have a money loving president, as well, so I guess we shouldn't talk!! LOL!!!
