'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' is getting a big screen reboot, but Warner Bros. has confirmed creator Joss Whedon will not be involved in the project.Whedon wrote the screenplay for the original 1992 film and created the popular TV series, which ran from 1997 to 2003.
Whedon, currently preparing to direct the upcoming 'The Avengers,' told E! Online, "Obviously I have strong, mixed emotions about something like this ... I always hoped that Buffy would live on even after my death. But, you know, after. I don't love the idea of my creation in other hands, but I'm also well aware that many more hands than mine went into making that show what it was."

"Buffy" was the best show of all time. It's sad that now they want to ruin it by excluding one of the most important people in its production. What about the cast? Will they be replaced too? I hope not. Lame.

What's lame? Which cast are you referring to? The movie? The TV series?
While Buffy was a fun show, Firefly was by far his best work. What a great show. Its a shame Fox had to screw it up by showing it out of order. What a bunch of toolbags.
I have the original movie on DVD. I even watched the series every now and then. It's been my experience that the vast majority of remakes are never as good as the original. I expect that the same will be true of the new Buffy movie.

I am NOT happy about this.

True Buffy fans like myself consider this a huge slap in the face to Joss. The studio bigwigs don't seem to realize that he has reached cult status in Nerd-dom, on the same level as William Shatner, Stan Lee, and George Lucas. Or maybe they DO realize it but are just too cheap to pay him what he's worth...
Something tells me this will suck.

Buffy was one of my all time favorite movies and series. What will Buffy be without its creator? Sad...
