Angelina Jolie Refuses to Celebrate Thanksgiving, Feels It's a 'Story of Murder'
While everyone is preparing to give thanks tomorrow, one of America's most famous families, the Jolie-Pitts, have decided to sit this Thanksgiving out.
"
Angelina Jolie hates this holiday and wants no part in rewriting history like so many other Americans," a friend of the actress tells me. "To celebrate what the white settlers did to the native Indians, the domination of one culture over another, just isn't her style. She definitely doesn't want to teach her multi-cultural family how to celebrate a story of murder."
Angelina has been filming her
directorial debut, about a Serbian man and Bosnian woman who fall in love during the Bosnian War. Angie, always extremely sensitive to the suffering throughout the world, is filming in English and the native languages.
"Angelina gets so grossed out by Thanksgiving that she has made sure her family will not be in America this year on Thursday," an insider tells me.
And although
Brad Pitt recently told 'EXTRA,' "We'll whip up a turkey somewhere," he certainly hasn't shared that plan with Angelina. A family friend tells me, "If Brad wants turkey, he will have to cook it himself. For Angie, it will be another day when America tries to rewrite history."

Europeans did kill thousands of Native Americans and caused a lot of suffering. I don't think it's "kooky" to decide that you want to honor the memory of that in some way. Sure, it's not "normal" to skip Thanksgiving. But do we all have to be sheep?
As a White American Colonist trying to rewrite history, I am appalled at Angelina's accusations and would like to remind her of the fact that she makes her living entertaining us, so I have no intention of wasting my time watching anymore of her lame movies in the future. It's not personal I just think she stinks as an actress and probably will stink as a Director as well.

She needs to lighten up some. Geez. You know this is my favorite holiday of the year. My entire family gets together and we all love one another and have so much fun visiting and eating and getting to know the new neices and nephews. To bad Angelina in all her wealth is not smart enough to see the good in this fantastic holiday....
She's taking that interpretation of the first Thanksgiving WAY too serious! It's fun to have kooky celebrities doing bizarre things to keep our interest up, but that's carrying it too far--even Brad realizes she has a problem!

i never once thought of slaughtered indians or the mayflower when stomping out a turkey dinner on thanksgiving. then again....i don't drink the blood of loved ones or kiss my brother on the mouth. meh!

The interesting part of your argument is what motivates the decision.
For instance, you have a person who doesn't want to be a sheep, so he refuses to follow. But, the question to ask would be that of his convictions; did he refuse to partake because it was HIS decision based on his own thoughts and feelings or did he refuse because he doesn't want to look like sheep to others who decided not to follow for THEIR reasons?
You know where I'm getting at, don't you? To not want to follow merely to satisfy others is exactly the same kind of behavior as following because others are doing it.
I'm not a sheep, but I celebrate Thanksgiving and the traditions established for that holiday because I LIKE IT AND ENJOY IT FOR MY OWN REASONS. I don't do it because others do it, I don't do it because others want me to and I don't do it to spite those who disagree.
Selfish? Sure is. But following your own path is a selfish act in the end.
If she is going out of the country because of Thanksgiving, I would invite her to stay out.
