Angelina Jolie Refuses to Celebrate Thanksgiving, Feels It's a 'Story of Murder'

While everyone is preparing to give thanks tomorrow, one of America's most famous families, the Jolie-Pitts, have decided to sit this Thanksgiving out.
"
Angelina Jolie hates this holiday and wants no part in rewriting history like so many other Americans," a friend of the actress tells me. "To celebrate what the white settlers did to the native Indians, the domination of one culture over another, just isn't her style. She definitely doesn't want to teach her multi-cultural family how to celebrate a story of murder."
Angelina has been filming her
directorial debut, about a Serbian man and Bosnian woman who fall in love during the Bosnian War. Angie, always extremely sensitive to the suffering throughout the world, is filming in English and the native languages.
"Angelina gets so grossed out by Thanksgiving that she has made sure her family will not be in America this year on Thursday," an insider tells me.
And although
Brad Pitt recently told 'EXTRA,' "We'll whip up a turkey somewhere," he certainly hasn't shared that plan with Angelina. A family friend tells me, "If Brad wants turkey, he will have to cook it himself. For Angie, it will be another day when America tries to rewrite history."
Lighten up, dear!

She did. She doesn't really live here except when she or Brad are filming here then they rent. She prefers to live elswhere, make movies elswhere, spend their money elswhere & adopt children who are not from this country. Everything is a problem & has political undertones with her. A true American??? Not!! Brad I am surprised at you. Your mom must be very sad that you married this strange woman. Happy Thanksgiving.
Must be a pill to live with such a negative bat. I love Thanksgiving and for me it is a celebration of being thankful for all you have in life. The important things like family and your health. She could make it a day of "Thankgiving" for her children to celebrate with family and extented family instead of making everything a negative statement. She's such a cow! HAPPY THANKSGIVING ALL.
Someone should remind Angelina that the first Thanksgiving was a feast of peace and cooperation between the Native Americans and the white settlers who would not have survived the winter without their help. It is unfortunate that this occasion wasn't used as a template for the future relations between our civilizations....and on that score I do agree with her. The descendants of the Europeans who emigrated here have a lot to be ashamed of - but Thanksgiving is not one of them.

right on!! You got it right! A celebration of murder?? Unbelievable!!
Don't buy into the left-wing history revision. There were some broken treaties on both sides, and the indians were FAR from innocent victims in many cases.
What an ignorant bi+ch!

bitter, party of one, bitter, party of one!... this is what happens when you start to believe your own bullcrap press... run, brad, run!... if you don't get out now,you never will... she doesn't celebrate it because she refuses to give God the glory!... so now she gets to infect her herd of children, who are nothing more to her than cannon fodder anyway... what a waste of air!

Thanksgiving celebrates the feast that native Americans were invited to by the Pilgrims in appreciation of the help that made their survival possible. It's not as if the Pilgrims turned around and killed the native Americans. Other settlers did the killing. Some were probably Jolie's ancestors.
Thanksgiving does not celebrate the entire experience between the native Americans and the Pilgrims, it just celebrates that moment of brotherhood between two culture. Will all that happened since, what we remember and celebrate is the spirit of that moment.
We can't change history. But certainly Jolie is not suggesting that the Pilgrims sat at the table an plotted that thousands of Europeans will follow them into America and kill off the people sitting on the other side of the table from them.
She's a Kook. Like most Hollywood bimbos but I still love her.

I choose to set aside Thanksgiving as a day of giving thanks; maybe Angelina should teach her children this as well.
And stop being so weird Angelina; weird is not pretty beyond your twenties.

America is rewriting history? Sounds more like angelina is rewriting history. How does she think the indians got the land they had? They murdered and drove out the tribes that were there before them. The Aztecs were a tribe from the great lakes area before they were driven all the way to mexico. The strong push out the weak, that's the way it was, the way it is and the way it will always be. To cry about it after the fact is revisionist and denying basic human nature.
Thankgiving is NOT about killing Indians, its about giving thanks for the things you DO have, and Brangelina have plenty. It shows she doesn't appreciate the gifts she has gotten.

I always knew there is something seriously wrong with Jolie- I feel sorry for Brad.
She is wrong...the first Europeans to settle in the "new world" were starving and many had died because of the harshness of their situation. However, they still gave thanks to their God for the few who were left and to hopefully get through the next winter. The native Indians actually were friendly and helped them. She needs to get her history straight instead of writing her biased version.

Whack-job!

Angelina is an idiot! Can she just stop protesting for one minute and sit down with her family and say "Thank you God, for the gifts you have bestowed upon us"? That's what this holiday is officially for, nothing more. Maybe she needs to turn her brain around and think of the settlers as illegal immigrants, then she would probably be on their side.

Just another reason I can't stand this woman!

Who cares what this pompous, ugly-lipped, moderately-talented pr-seeking dumbdumb thinks? She's even less important than that blonde, over-rated kid she lives with.

Too funny.

When the original Colonists landed at Plymouth Rock, it was a new and exciting beginning. The Wampanoag Indians signed a peace treaty with the Pilgrims and after much teaching and learning by both the Pilgrims and the Indians, the Pilgrims who survived the harsh winter before invited the Indians to celebrate their first harvest in 1621. This is celebrated as the First Thanksgiving, and rightfully so. The holiday has transcended its beginning to create a National Holiday of thanks giving. People can argue all day long about what the White settlers did to the Native Americans, but too many people proselytize this as the basis for our Thanksgiving Holiday. Now THAT is trying to rewrite history. That "first harvest" celebration honored the hope, peace, friendship and thanks giving, the TRUE first harvest from the bond forged between the original Colonists and the Native Americans in Plymouth. This is truly worth celebrating.
Besides, I think this chick has decided her popularity and influence are so great that people will believe anything she says, and therefore, she excuses herself from being accountable for truth by putting her own spin on places, times and events. Too bad she doesn't teach her children about the first harvest celebration and the ideal beginning it celebrated. Then she can go on to teach them how far history progressed away from that ideal beginning.

That's right, Angelina!
