According to the New York Daily News, accused murderer and one-time 'Ugly Betty' actor Michael Brea has confessed to killing his mother with a Freemason sword, saying it was the "work of God.""I didn't kill her. I killed the demon inside her," Brea said in a disturbing hour-long interview with the Daily News in the prison ward at Bellevue Hospital, where his psychiatric health is being evaluated. He confronted his mother, Yannick, 55, late Monday night in her Brooklyn apartment. She died early Tuesday from her injuries.
Brea claims that he started hearing voices, including that of God, instructing him to kill his mother.
"She had the voice of the demon," Brea said. "I asked, 'Do you believe in God?' She said, 'No, Michael, no,' and began screaming. I began slashing her like this," he said, making violent hacking motions with his right hand.
He added: "I didn't want to kill her right away. I wanted to give her time to get right with God," he said.
Brea says he even felt partially superhuman, like he was in a movie. "I felt like Neo from 'The Matrix,' he said. "I began hearing voices and feeling powerful. They were asking about the difference between mom and mother. It was a sign."

This is so sad to me. what kind of god will tell him to kill his mother... only the devil.

If people would finally wake up and realize that none of these mythical beings exist in reality murders like this one and that nutty Texas mother who murdered her kids would never happen. If you start hearing imaginary voices actually talking to you, be they a dog, a demon, the Devil or God, seek psychiatric help immediately.
This sounds like an episode of Supernatural. A spirit posing as an angel from God, telling people to kill somebody for the sake of the world. Even in fiction it was very obvious that only something controlled by the devil would do something like that, but I'm gearing up for talk about how religious people are all crazy and this is what organized religion leads to. It's not true in the slightest, but the devil wants people to think so, which is probably why he made Michael Brea do what he did.
Very, very horrific and sad. I'll pray he gets better.

I find it amazing that the prison psychiatric ward (and his attorney)would allow an hour long interview with a newspaper! Doesn't seem right.

These nuts and fundamentlists (who are also nuts) have got to stop listening to the voices in their heads. Whether it's to kill your mother or attack a group of people... trust me, you are crazy and it's not God who's talking to you.

No,, that was not the voice of God. It was a fake voice, he is making up to try to use the 'crazy' card. Or the man is crazy.
But dont say that God is the problem, he is the solution to the problem, for those who choose to let his in their lives.

Thank God someone is still willing to do the work of the Lord.. Michael slayed the demon, and now all everyone wants to do is criticize him.. I think it is because he is black... If he were a white demon hunter, I think everyone would be supporting him...
BTW, I always found him absolutely adorable on "Ugly Betty".. I wonder what his next role will be??

You DO realize that sarcasm doesn't work well when written, right? If not, I'm telling you now. Sarcasm doesn't work well in written form unless you add something at the end like: And if you can't tell that is dripping with sarcasm, then I'm telling you that yes, it is dripping with sarcasm.
My first thought? He's an actor. Although it's hard for me to believe that anyone could kill his or her own mother that way, it happens. He could be acting crazy to justify murder.
Unless he has shown signs before I would be surprised if he was schizophrenic. I'm not a mental health professional, but I would think that there would have been some sort of signs of mental illness before this.

yes, there were "signs" before, his family described him as "spiritual". I bet that he was always "sensitive". Small, seemingly quirky behavior, now seems tragic to his family and friends.
Schizophrenics has a "religious" history and hear voices. Not all have the same symptoms but the way he was described sounds a lot like it.
Now its our turn to pray, for his health and those afflicted.

It's 'Second-Degree' because he is obviously schizophrenic. The 'voices' people hear are not a god or a devil, they are mental illness, as they have been throughout history. Should we 'burn him at the stake'? Only in backward and barbaric places like Afghanistan and Texas do they execute the mentally ill. Whar' you frum?
Perfectly stable young man who adores his mother, fair success as actor and businessmen, attends Masonic initiation rites where he snatches a sword and murders his mother. Not mental illness. Demon possession, very real. "Fear not him who can kill the body, but fear Him who can destroy both body and soul in Hell."
