The Material Girl is trying her hand at a new business: her first gym opened its doors Monday, the Associated Press reports. Hard Candy Fitness, located in the heart of Mexico City, is Madonna's first foray into the fitness biz. Though the gym equipment is pretty similar to other high-class gyms in the city, there's no missing the huge Andy Warhol-esque mural featuring the singer that greets every customer as they walk in.
The name of the club is also a nod to Madonna--Hard Candy was the title of her last album. She states the name is the perfect combination of "hard body" and "eye candy."
"It's a sexy name that gives you the opportunity to have fun and to build strength as far as the imagination will allow," the singer-actress said in a statement.
As for choosing Mexico City as the location of her first gym, Madonna reveals it was a calculated move. "Our plan is to use Mexico as a place to fine-tune our brand and then expand it to other countries and, in the long term, develop a global brand that includes the United States," she said.

The ego-driven and seemingly insatiable, material girl takes her over the border to open an exclusive, high-end gym in this fine city of 20 million. This will also provide her with a whole new supply of Spanish Conquistadors to add to her stables. The 'hard candy' may or may not be successful for her, but she can always depend on an endless line of 'chorizo'.

Great Madonna, another business opens by an American out of our country! Try it here 1st Madonna! We could use the jobs! instead you go somewhere else. How typical!

Great Madonna sends more jobs to Mexico! The USA that made your career could have used these jobs here in the USA. You should have opened it in West Hollywood where every gay man would have became a member! Maybe New York as well. Mexico? What were you thinking?

Apart from the fact that Mexico City is abolutely STUNNING, Mexico is not a poor country, it is the 12th largest economy in the world due to its extensive natural resources!! More billionaires live in Mexico than in several European countries put together, therefore they can afford to pay these fees. Bosques De Las Lomas is a VERY upscale location....
What do you mean she is sending more jobs to Mexico? It does say in the article that she is opening a few locations here in the US. Just because she is opening the first location somewhere else doesn't mean she's taking jobs away from us... after all it says it is going to be a world wide chain. Besides there are as many gay men in Mexico City as there are in West Hollywood...

Not surprised to see huge blown up photos of the egomaniac all over the place. She should feel right at home there. Guess it's a lot cheaper to build in Mexico than the US?? Just wait till something happens to it (I hope)
