Rihanna Doesn't Want to Be a Single Mom

Rihanna doesn't want to be a single mom. The singer admits it would be "selfish" to raise a child without both parents, in a new interview conducted by the one and only Kanye West.

"I definitely think a child deserves both parents," Rihanna says in December issue of Interview magazine. "It would be selfish of me, because of my pride and independence to say, 'Oh, I just want a sperm donor, because I can do it myself.' I can do it myself, but that's not fair."

Rihanna, who is dating Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Matt Kemp, is in no rush to have children though.

"I have a lot of other stuff to accomplish before I get to kids. Whenever the time is right, I'll just know. I don't really plan on the age. It could be a year from now. It could be 10 years from now. Whenever is right," she says.

The songstress admits she'd love to raise kids in her homeland -- but it'd be nearly impossible with her demanding schedule and world travels.

"I would love to bring them up in Barbados. But with the career that I have, I definitely can't do that. I can't live that far away from everything now, without kids, so I certainly couldn't raise kids and do that with the demanding schedule that I have."

As for her choice of having a boy or girl -- she doesn't care, adding she'd probably have a girl because "God will probably want me to have a daughter just so I could see what I put my mother through."

Until she gets rid of that clown hair, she shouldn't be a mom at all.

She should just make sure Chris Brown isn't the father.

Sometimes, being a single parent isn't the plan, it just happens that way. Nothing selfish about that. Maybe she should speak up on something she knows a little about, like getting her butt kicked by a man!!
And yes her hair is horrible!!!

um she never said being a single mom on accident is selfish, she said making the choice to be a single parent from the beginning is selfish. Like if you just got pregnant by whomever and decided to keep the baby to yourself and not involve the other parent, that is very selfish. sounds like you are single -bitter- mother. hopefully u are single parenting b/c u have no other choice, and not b/c u just spred ur legs to any loser with sperm, and then blame for not being there. if women cared more about the children they are producing instead of the stud they are producing with, we would have a lot less single parent homes. hopefully thats not the case with u.

Good for you Rihanna; shows that you have good morals. Stick with your plan. Don't deprive your children of having a father in their lives. As a Black woman, I didn't grow up with a father, therefore, I swore that I would get married before I had children and stay married. I've been married for 40 years now. My children are 28 yrs and 38 yrs. old. My husband and I, really enjoy our grand children together. It's a wonderful traditional family. I'm proud.

I agree with Rihanna! Yes, there are some women who do not plan on being single mothers. However, I do not believe she is talking about them. She is talking about single (unwed) women who are actually seeking out sperm donors in order to have a baby. It is foolish and unfair to the child. Also, the color of her hair and makeup does not have anything to do with her ability to be a good mother. I have seen the most elegant and sophisticated looking mother fail at motherhood due to selfishness.

Having both a mother and father in the same household doesn't necessarily make a happy family. I know - I lived it. Staying in a relationship for the wrong reasons can also be selfish. I just don't think it's fair or true to say everything is fine and dandy just because it's a "traditional family."

Not everyone in a 'traditional family' should stay together especially for the 'sake' of the kid(s)...
And not everyone who aspires to be a single parent is selfish. I could on and on about this but I would be wasting it on someone with minimal brain cells.
