Jennifer Grey to Get Surgery for 'Dancing With the Stars' Injury

After a whirlwind week following her big win on 'Dancing With the Stars,' champ Jennifer Grey revealed Tuesday that she'll soon be getting surgery for an injury sustained on the dancing show. Grey and dancing partner Derek Hough took home the trophy for Season 11 of the competition show.

"I ruptured a disc, and I'm gonna go home today and I'm probably gonna have surgery this week or sometime next week," Grey told Access Hollywood at a NYC event.

"It's just gonna be like a little surgery where they take out the ruptured disc thing, and you know, it won't be a big deal. Compared to the other surgeries I had on my neck, my doctor says it won't be a big deal," Jennifer said. "I'll be home that night."

And though it's painful now, the 'Dirty Dancing' actress admits that the adrenaline of the show helped with the pain. "I gotta tell you, the win and the experience of doing--more the experience of doing 'Dancing with the Stars'--already, like I don't even remember the pain I was in a week ago," she said. "I just have some discomfort in back that needs to be taken care of. OK, it's a little more than discomfort."

I am having a very similar surgery in just a week from friday but it is for 3 discs 2 major ones and a minor 1

Hey a-hole. She is fantastic. The guts it took to get out there at her age and do what she did was amazing to watch. All of America should be inspired by what she did. Maybe if we all had balls of steel like her we could pull ourselves out of the crap we're in as a country.

If anyone watches DWTS as regularly as I did, it should be obvious that many dancers have suffered with just as serious physical challenges during their tenure on the show. They all showed good grace and sportsmanship, whereas Jennifer came off as a crybaby and a whiner. She would never get my vote.

I agree with you, I thought it was great for her to be on DWTS but every week, My neck, my feet, my back. She had to be on the most powerful pain meds in the world to be in all that pain and do all the moves she did. But I like you wouldn't vote for her or Crystal every week they were crying. I voted for Kyle.
