Kate Gosselin: Children 'Were Not Expelled,' Family Is 'Doing Wonderfully'

Kate Gosselin is taking a new tour through the press, telling PEOPLE magazine her children Alexis and Collin were not "expelled," and letting the 'Today' show know the whole family is doing "wonderfully."

"The school would never use that word," Gosselin, 35, told PEOPLE of two of her 6-year-old sextuplets supposedly being expelled. "[The school] did not feel like they could meet their needs anymore, so it was decided they should leave, for now."

Alexis and Collin now have a private tutor, but Kate says the children are facing personal problems as much as academic woes. "They've been the ones to verbalize the most that they miss Daddy. I could see that they're the ones struggling the most."

Gosselin recently told 'Entertainment Tonight' that "divorce anger" was manifesting itself in Alexis and Collin. Now she says the children are "doing much, much better" after spending time with a therapist.

"We are doing wonderfully," Kate told Meredith Viera on 'Today.' "It is so great, a year later, to feel put back together and normal. We're functioning, we're in a routine."

Kate also reiterated the expulsion rumors are false, saying Alexis and Collin were having "anger issues" and "acting out." After lifting the pressure of their advanced academic school and working with the siblings in counseling, Gosselin says much has improved. "My kids are back. They're functioning, they're happy, they're well."

In her PEOPLE interview, Kate specified the nature of two of her brood's troubles: "[Collin] was upset and saying things out of frustration – he'd crumple his papers and throw them on the floor," she says. "Alexis was angry in a different way. She didn't want to sit still. She'd get up and want to run around."

Asked on 'Today' if the holidays are a tense time between Kate and ex-husband Jon Gosselin, Kate said, "The holidays have always been something that we've worked out peacefully," Kate says. "The kids need to see both of us, if not together, on the holidays."

This woman is still nuts and needs to go away. Poor little kids are a product of their mothers enviroment. She is mean, nasty and throws fits, slugs people etc, no wonder the children acted out... Pity really

for crying out loud, she's got 8 kids and a "dimwit" x-husband. i've got two. my x had made a mess of both of them. she's doing pretty good it seems. you must have perfect little angels.

If the school told them to leave indefinitely/permanently - that's expulsion. To leave for a specified period of time is suspension. Because she didn't say whether they would be returning at a predetermined time, we don't know for sure. Being a teacher at a school with a high amount of suspensions and expulsions, I have 10 years experience with this and have only seen one actual permanent expulsion with an extremely violent child. Unless the child(ren) were extremely violent (posing an imminent threat to the safety of the other students), I would find a permanent expulsion unlikely. However, seeing as this is a private school, they are more likely to cater to the wishes of the other parents and may have been/are being pressured to make the situation permanent, lest they lose tuition payments from those other children leaving the school.

Suse, my kids were well behaved. I was a good mother and did not melt down and abuse my husband in front of them and it was a good move. Kate is an abuser and nuts and the children are modeling themselves after their role model mother. A NUT.....

I agree with all you write. I cannot understand why Kate Gosslein is given any time on tv or have articles written about her or those poor children who must endure a publicity seeking mother who will stop at nothing to be seen or heard. The airwaves, etc. would be a lot better without the face of Kate Gosslein being shown at all.

So you would let people bash your kids on national media? Expulsion is something kids get teased about, she was right to not let it stand.

She's not saying they are perfect, she's saying they are working on it by seeing therapists, etc.

Kids suffer after divorce, particularly one so public and when you have that many children, it's normal to have a couple with more issues.

If they are not already scarred for life, just keep up your ill conceived act and they will be. They didn't ask for this, you and your ex-husband brought them into this world, NOW LIVE UP TO YOUR END OF THE DEAL, AND DO WHAT IS RIGHT FOR THEM!!!!!!!

That's for sure just as long as it makes her look good she'll say anything. I seen previews on there Halloween show that the kids were having divorce anger problems so why deny they have anger problems and things are so much better there she goes again don't want to admit your not that wonderful shinning star you may think you are

Ashame on the Today Show for giving her any air time...TLC is also to blame for what these children are going through...Boycott TLC and their advertisers until this show is off their schedule...What these children need is to be taken off TV and giving a normal life or whatever can be normal with Kate as a Mother...Kate must stop living off her children...She can keep working only leave the kids out of it..Their parents signed them up for this show and look what is happening...Enough is enough...In a few years these kids will be on Celebrity Rehab...and Kate will be on the shows crying, "It is not my fault"..
