Kate Gosselin: Children 'Were Not Expelled,' Family Is 'Doing Wonderfully'

Kate Gosselin is taking a new tour through the press, telling PEOPLE magazine her children Alexis and Collin were not "expelled," and letting the 'Today' show know the whole family is doing "wonderfully."

"The school would never use that word," Gosselin, 35, told PEOPLE of two of her 6-year-old sextuplets supposedly being expelled. "[The school] did not feel like they could meet their needs anymore, so it was decided they should leave, for now."

Alexis and Collin now have a private tutor, but Kate says the children are facing personal problems as much as academic woes. "They've been the ones to verbalize the most that they miss Daddy. I could see that they're the ones struggling the most."

Gosselin recently told 'Entertainment Tonight' that "divorce anger" was manifesting itself in Alexis and Collin. Now she says the children are "doing much, much better" after spending time with a therapist.

"We are doing wonderfully," Kate told Meredith Viera on 'Today.' "It is so great, a year later, to feel put back together and normal. We're functioning, we're in a routine."

Kate also reiterated the expulsion rumors are false, saying Alexis and Collin were having "anger issues" and "acting out." After lifting the pressure of their advanced academic school and working with the siblings in counseling, Gosselin says much has improved. "My kids are back. They're functioning, they're happy, they're well."

In her PEOPLE interview, Kate specified the nature of two of her brood's troubles: "[Collin] was upset and saying things out of frustration – he'd crumple his papers and throw them on the floor," she says. "Alexis was angry in a different way. She didn't want to sit still. She'd get up and want to run around."

Asked on 'Today' if the holidays are a tense time between Kate and ex-husband Jon Gosselin, Kate said, "The holidays have always been something that we've worked out peacefully," Kate says. "The kids need to see both of us, if not together, on the holidays."

Grandmother knows best! Kate can put her spin on anything she wants...what is the difference between being expelled or being asked to leave school because you are too angry and difficult to handle in a school setting. Where or where are the child protective people.....this woman will continue to use and abuse her children for her own gain. I never saw kids look more miserable than that NYC fiasco parading those kids around in the unbearable heat as a backdrop to her bottomless need for attention and the almighty dollar. Collin and Alexis are manageable now...wait until they hit puberty and the anger really kicks in.

She "browbeat" him because he didn't do anything unless he was told to do it. He acted like a kid, therefore he had to be treated like a kid. Yes, she is a control-freak. She likes the house to look a certain way and likes a routine. With that many kids, you have to have a routine or there will be chaos. Give her a break. She is making money to support ther kids by doing interviews, DWTS, writing books and doing the show. If she sat around on government support, you people would then whine about that. Yes, her kids need to be able to grow up off camera, but as long as the media follows them around, that will not happen.

I do agree with Grandmother! I also have another idea. SUPER NANNY to the rescue to help those kids and Kate or maybe a month with 19 kids and counting. That whole family is respectable, mannerly, kind to one another, Christian AND loving!
I don't think Kate is that bad a person I think she indeed needs to just raise her family and not worry about anything else. She is in deeper than she can handle. Somehow I pity her because the public will never allow her to just be Kate anymore, no matter how hard she tries!

You are soooo right~! I was beginning to believe I was the only one that saw what she was doing. I felt/feel so sorry for Jon and those poor kids! I am all for boycotting her show and anyplace she appears. A big shame on TLC for continueing to add to the pressure these kids have. At least, leave them out of the spotlight. If she wants all the attention let her have it. Did anyone else ever wonder how she can call herself a "good mother" when she spends so much time travelling and appearing on all these different shows?

Exactly. Kate has always and will always be out for herself and only herself. Anything she says about wanting or doing "what's best for the kids", is merely words and can be proven as such simply by watching what she actually DOES, not by what she SAYS. Her kids are the real proof. Some mothers just don't have that instinct to protect and she appears to be one of them.

Geez... this oh poor me persona she plays is so old. I have bills in my purse right now that need to be payed, and I have no money to. Hhhmmm... it is amazing how she finds a way to get cosmetic enhancements done so she can stomp on Dancing With the Stars, and whatever new crap I see she has had done. Yeah dummy. You found a boy you could boss around, make fifty billion kids you can't afford, just to try and get famous. I feel sorry for you as much as I believe that the octodummy didn't get plastic surgery done to get rid of her saggy gut. These poor kids... lots of therapy in their future, and it ain't just about "divorce anger" b!

Do you wonder why these kids have such issues? The mom is their biggest problem. It might be best to keep them in the news a bit, the kids may be safer that way. She is just so repulsive!

Ya'll all sound very malicious. If you actually bother to watch the show, you'd know that the two kids suspended are her problem kids. It's their personalities. And don't say that it isn't normal that children of their age sometimes don't follow the rules. My friend is a teacher and she has all sorts of kids that cause trouble and have to be suspended. It's not bad parenting. Stop judging, cause when you judge others, you're not defining them, you're defining yourself.

If you lived in Berks County, PA, (as I do), where Kate and her family live, you would realize that SHE is the problem, not her children. Kate didn't need to have all those children at one time, that was her choice (just like Octomom). SHE wanted to make her children into her paycheck, and created this problem all on her own. The sad part is that it's the children who are paying the price. Kate is nothing but a leech.

Sounds like you had kids that were in trouble also! Parenting is simply the most important job a Mom or Dad will do and she is failing. You are a teacher and the only teacher I have ever heard that does not believe that it is possible that the actions of an unruly child is due to the lack of parenting or poor parenting. Two of these children have to be homes schooled due to their behavior, who exactly do you blame?

Well so what if you happen to live near them? Do you even know them? Living near them does not give you the right to criticize.

And what if Kate were to stay home 24/7 with her kids and they still did this anyway? Is she still a bad mother? They have 8 chlidren!!! Ever stop to think that possibly, the two are dominant because of the fact that they have 6 brothers and sisters? I think ya'll only see the surface of what really goes on in their home and make judgements and that is horrible

She forgot that she is not a natural star, just a 15-min reality star, IMO. I think she SHOULD have saved the money. I heard she spent her money like a movie star. Stupid. I feel for her kids. Not fair.
