Kate Gosselin: Children 'Were Not Expelled,' Family Is 'Doing Wonderfully'

Kate Gosselin is taking a new tour through the press, telling PEOPLE magazine her children Alexis and Collin were not "expelled," and letting the 'Today' show know the whole family is doing "wonderfully."

"The school would never use that word," Gosselin, 35, told PEOPLE of two of her 6-year-old sextuplets supposedly being expelled. "[The school] did not feel like they could meet their needs anymore, so it was decided they should leave, for now."

Alexis and Collin now have a private tutor, but Kate says the children are facing personal problems as much as academic woes. "They've been the ones to verbalize the most that they miss Daddy. I could see that they're the ones struggling the most."

Gosselin recently told 'Entertainment Tonight' that "divorce anger" was manifesting itself in Alexis and Collin. Now she says the children are "doing much, much better" after spending time with a therapist.

"We are doing wonderfully," Kate told Meredith Viera on 'Today.' "It is so great, a year later, to feel put back together and normal. We're functioning, we're in a routine."

Kate also reiterated the expulsion rumors are false, saying Alexis and Collin were having "anger issues" and "acting out." After lifting the pressure of their advanced academic school and working with the siblings in counseling, Gosselin says much has improved. "My kids are back. They're functioning, they're happy, they're well."

In her PEOPLE interview, Kate specified the nature of two of her brood's troubles: "[Collin] was upset and saying things out of frustration – he'd crumple his papers and throw them on the floor," she says. "Alexis was angry in a different way. She didn't want to sit still. She'd get up and want to run around."

Asked on 'Today' if the holidays are a tense time between Kate and ex-husband Jon Gosselin, Kate said, "The holidays have always been something that we've worked out peacefully," Kate says. "The kids need to see both of us, if not together, on the holidays."

Kate could tell Alexis and Colin were struggling the most yet she still did Dancing with the Stars, she still took a vacation getaway with her "bodyguard" and she still continued to tape a TV show that involved her children, including Alexis and Colin.
When is this woman going to put her children first? She says she does it for them but millions of women raise children as single moms without celebrity status - Kate needs to try it!

And America - when are we going to demand that her 15 minutes are over?

"Grandmother" expressed my feelings perfectly. Those of us who watched the origibal series saw Kate as "Kate the Shrew" Shakespeare could have predicted her. If the media and television shows would drop her and her visions of celebrity grandeur maybe the children could one day live more normally.

She sold her soul so she could be a celebrity. We saw first hand how she treated her husband. She belittled him on and off camera. She traveled all the time and left Jon and nannies in charge of her kids. She still sacrifices them to the media so she can get her face time. Instead of spending all her money on expensive clothes, jewelry and spa visits, why doesn't she just have a tutor for all the kids and a child psychologist on staff? She's so self absorbed and celebrity conscious, she can't see the effects all this media attention is doing to the kids. I wonder how many of her kids are gonna follow in the footsteps of Lindsey Lohan, Paris Hilton and Charlie Sheen?

I feel SO sorry for these poor kids with this idiot as their mother. Hopefully there's some other family member who is stable and intelligent and can help these kids as they mature because they're going to need all the help they can get.

She did--she alienated them too!! She is self absorbed, self centered and nasty. Look at her face when she doesn't realize a camera is on her--mean, nasty eyes.
There were 11 of us--darn, where was this show back then? We were/are normal!!! No nannies, security....just the good old belt or paddle worked--calm down DYFS--we survived. We were taken places and not given a thing for being a large family-but we also didn't get to take over the place as if it was owed--we respected others property!!
Kate needs to go back and grow up--she has issues from childhood--that is why her parents are never mentioned or were way back to clarify why they aren't in the picture--mental case.
And yes she did brow beat Jon. He handled it wrong, making him look like a dope, if he didn't do what he did, he'd be up for sainthood right now.

Kate is a ball-busting, self-righteous narcissist with no talent whatsoever, and frankly quite a reality TV bore on top of that. However, it is necessary for her to make money to support the eight kids she decided to bring into the world, and she is out there doing it despite criticism. I will give her credit for financially supporting her large family. If she had been less narcissistic and more caring toward her husband, perhaps he would still be there to give her and the children the loving support they need. It is obvious he tried. However, due to her obnoxious behavior toward Jon - berating him regularly on national TV - she put a stop to that. I don't blame Jon for leaving. After all, who could just sit there and take her intimidating tactics? Kate, haven't you made enough money to finally retire and pay attention to your kids?

If I remember correctly the two children that are having trouble in school Alexis and Collin were big daddy babies and clung to Jon all the time . I know Alexis was . I feel so sorry for these kids. Daddy is gone and Mom is a traveling control freak .
