Celebrity splits are a dime a dozen, but fans were truly shocked when Christina Aguilera announced she was divorcing her husband of five years, music executive Jordan Bratman. While the glamorous singer and the unassuming Bratman seemed like an unlikely pair, media coverage of their relationship seemed to indicate that the two were truly in love. In the latest issue of PEOPLE, the 'Burlesque' star opens up about the reasons why she decided to leave Bratman and how she believes it will benefit her family in the end.
"Things were so unhealthy and unhappy for both Jordan and me, I knew I had to end it," Aguilera says. "I really didn't want to hurt Jordan, and I felt torn about splitting our family up."

I was thinking the same thing. Read between the lines and it seems she's saying she was cheating and didn't wanna hurt her ex husband or her kids.

This woman is an artist NOT Mother Teresa. Why is everyone focusing on stupied matters ??? If I was going to see her show it wouldn't be because she's single/married/about to have a another baby/ or anything in between. I would merely go to see her PERFORM as an ARTIST and would expect her to entertain me for the price that I paid for my ticket.

You are so off the mark! there are plenty of people, men and women, who are promiscious with others while married. Sounds to me like each of their ideas of marriage were not insync with each other.

Well I think it is good she talks about it, for the fans and her, but I have to say she did look a tad on the bigger side, not bad, and I should look that big. Just saying!

You know, I thought she looked a little on the big side, too. Especially in the face. Then I remember that not only is she a mom now (2 year old), but she has some nice curves. Looking at the rest of her body, there's nothing out of proportion - she's still really hot, she just looks a little bigger.
Then, I realized what it was - she looks *healthy*. Still hot, curvy, better than 99% of the planet - but bigger than the normal skeleton chic that we're used to seeing in Hollywood. It was that which threw me off - she didn't look like she'd just left Dachau - and that was not normal for a Hollywood starlet of her caliber.
After realizing that, I decided that she looks much better like this - and anyone who saw that video clip of the finale from the X factor who says that she's not as hot as the sun - well, then they've been judging 2 dimensional images on a screen too long and haven't had their hands on a real flesh and blood woman for a long, long time.
The ink on the divorce papers wasn't even dry when she began "dating." This woman needs a hot shower and a bar of soap.

It seems to me what she was saying without spelling it out was she also was a victim of domestic violence like her parents and didnt want she son exposed to it too. I see nothing wrong with dating once you file for divorce. Domestic violence is something I think anyone subjected too has a good enough reason to end that relationship.
These people that claim they divorced for the sake of their children are full of crap! It's probably that way for some people that are in terribly abusive relationships but for most people I see it's pure selfish reason why they leave. Most times it's because they found someone else and they feel bad about ditching their spouce but they want that thrill of being with someone new. Once that wears off they will ditch that person and start on another new one. On and on and before you know it they have 8 marriages behind them. YUK When you said I DO UNTIL DEATH DO YOU PART, what part of that don't they understand?

I think that it's more of an over-reaction to what we grew up with. When I was 8, I decided that even though I couldn't make my mom divorce my dad, I would ensure that when I was an adult I would never stay in an unhappy marriage. I never wanted my kids in that situation. You need to fight to make a marriage work, and people who grew up resenting their parents' dysfunctional marriages tend to just run from tough situations. That said, I think dating so publically and so soon is pretty trashy.
I agree. There's a 25 longitudinal study about the effects of divorce on kids. It ain't good. I wish I could remember the full name of the author, all I remember is Judy. Try to find it. She writes about the importance of judges and lawyers and society in general understanding how detrimental it is to people.
