'Basketball Wives' Star Tami Roman Left Penniless After Divorce

Being married to a professional basketball player may have its perks, but the glitz wears off eventually. Just ask 'Basketball Wives' newest star, Tami Roman. She divorced NBA player Kenny Anderson after six years of marriage when rumors of his infidelity surfaced. She bolted -- even though their prenuptial agreement left her without a dime. She was forced to use food stamps to care for their two daughters -- recently
denying reports that she ended up with half of his assets.
Now, on the second season on 'Basketball Wives,' which debuts Dec. 12 at 8PM ET on VH1, she's finally telling her side of the story, admitting her biggest regret after the divorce was not putting her children first.
"If you just put Kenny and I in a room, with no mediator, there's no telling what would happen. It hasn't always been an amicable situation. We haven't been proper parents in how we deal with each other, and that has taken a negative effect on his relationship with my daughters," Roman tells
PopEater, adding that Anderson hadn't seen the girls in a decade.
"There are so many children who are going through these difficult divorces, and their parents forget about them, which is what Kenny and I did. We acknowledge that this season and try to rebuild."
But the family therapy is mere child's play compared to the intense cat fighting between Roman and the other 'Wives' this season. In the trailer, Roman is shown being held back by producers, ready to throw a few punches at Jennifer Williams, for not knowing what a food stamp looks like.
"I'm very outspoken and say it like it is. Some people can't deal with that, so it erupts into the fights," she says. "Sometimes, I can't control myself. I try not to get upset, but when I do, whoever is there suffers the repercussions of everything I've held in. I just blow up."
Despite her outbursts, Roman says she has grown tremendously since her days on 'The Real World: Los Angeles,' the long-running reality series' second season, when reality TV stars were guinea pigs in the genre. "I want fans to know I've grown and matured. Before, fans saw a young girl trying to find her way," she insists.
And with her maturity, there's some wisdom she's ready to pass on about relationships. "Never lose sight of yourself, your morals or your independence. So, if for some reason it doesn't work out, you can walk away -- just like
Eva Longoria. You can hold your head high knowing you were one hundred percent truthful in that moment. You can't expect the fantasy to be real or last forever," she says.

i agree with you krnjyb. She married her ex husband not because of his money. but its because she love. Her 2 daughters is the proof that she love him for who he is not because he is a NBA player.
TAMI FTW!!She's a rare actress that hollywood should take care of!!

I think Tami Roman is a very strong woman. It takes a lot of courage and determination to go through a divorce. And with the prenuptial agreement that they had, I think she did the right thing even if it means that she won't receive anything from her husband. It is really shown here that Tami didn't marry her husband for money. And I guess, she is willing to take anything for her children. Maybe we should give her a chance to tell her side of the story.

Well, if she didn't get anything from the divorce doesn't mean that it is the end of the world. She still supports her children and i think her ex-husband should do his part. She's really something. She made it through the divorce and I'm very happy that there are still women like her, women who are strong enough to stop a relationship no matter what. For she knows that it is for the best. Two thumbs up for you Tami. I like you on basketball wives!

It's not tami should blame with this matter, it's his ex-hus obligation to support his children, he said that he's not ready to be a father, that's heck!!Tami did a good decision to broke up with him, for a better.

I agree with you. Kenny Anderson is really bad, such a bad husband. He should have obligation to support or visit for his children.
I can really say that Tami is indeed a good woman. The divorce didn't torn her apart, I guess it made her stronger. And so, I am really happy for her, that she made it through everything. I think those people who doesn't like her, or those who doesn't believe her because they think that living on stamp food is not real, should really think twice. Stamp food and the like is a reality. It's hard to believe it but those things happens and Tami admitting that she did that for the survival of her children is a strong act. I hope we will all try to understand her.

Tami is great! Wow, I was really amazed and i love the way she accepted who she really is. I mean she said that she admitted that she has some problem when she's angry, few people do know themselves well, and I'm so glad that Tami is an exception. In the show I can see that she's shining in there. She's a real fighter. Well, with all those pains that she went through, I am really a fan of her.

Tami deserves to be there, she did very well than the other stars. Many was blaming her about their divorce of her ex- husband kenny, but I don't think that's fair, it's also kenny's obligation to support their children, but he fails.ugh!! go TAMI!!

Thumbs up for Tami..she's doing great in Basketball Wives Season II. She even tried her best to save her marriage with Kelly Anderson, not just because of luxury and riches in life but, of course, being influenced by her belief about family values.
