TV Guide Refutes Padma Lakshmi Retouching Claims

TV Guide is denying accusations made yesterday by PopEater that a cover image of 'Top Chef' host Padma Lakshmi was manipulated to lighten her skin tone.

In a statement issued by TV Guide, the magazine's editorial team said, "If her skin appears lighter, it's because we shot her in a brightly lit diner as part of the cover concept. We did our normal color correcting, which is standard for printing."

"Padma's skin tone is beautiful, and we did nothing to adjust it," they continued.

Lakshmi took to Twitter to dispel any controversy surrounding the cover. "Many thx to TVGuide for a great and gorgeous cover. Delightful team, and a really fun and easy shoot," she wrote.

TV Guide isn't the first magazine forced to refute retouching rumors. Elle magazine denied claims it digitally altered a cover photo of Gabourey Sidibe by lightening her skin.

This is a bit laughable, I've seen Padma in SoHo and The Village this woman does not need any touch up on anything ever. There are an abundance of beautiful women here in New York but when she walks in the place....... wow...

she isn't that dark anyway, she doesn't look any different than she does on the show, maybe when she is laying out she get's a little darker but geez!

The skin tones of both Padma and Tom are lighter than we see on TOP CHEF because of the bright lighting, white clothing, and reflections from the stainless-steel fixtures.

I was wondering who this person was. Then I saw she was involoved with a reality show. That explained why I don't recognise her. I don't waste my time with reality shows. I believe they are a waste of television air time and should be removed from TV entirely.

Yes this is a reality show but it is great fun. If you love food you will see really great cooking. I love Padma and Tom, they just make the show what it is. I am so excited for the all star show. As always there will be great food and lots of behind the scene bickering. Thanks for bringing us good TV shows. All these contestants want to do is show great food.
