Bristol Palin: 'My Mom Did Not Force Me to Go on 'DWTS''

Bristol Palin is firing back at Margaret Cho, after the comedienne and fellow 'Dancing With the Stars' contestant claimed Sarah Palin made her daughter appear on the show.

"I will give my friend credit for creativity, and extra points for getting so many 'facts' wrong in so few sentences," Bristol wrote on her Facebook page.

"Let me be blunt: my mom did not 'force' me to go on 'DWTS.' She did not ask me either. The show approached me. I thought about it. I made the decision," she continued.

"It saddens me that people would think that my mom would 'blame' me for anything that occurred in the 2008 election--much less 'harshly" and "openly.' I think that canard (there, I said it again), has been floating around since then also," she added.

Bristol decided to speak up because she wants to defend her mother.

"Why do I want to set the record straight? Because it is this type of hurtful and false narrative that people promote to make my mom look bad. For 20 years my mom had my back--and for the rest of my life I will have hers."

The teen mom also invited Cho to speak to her directly. "If you ever have a question, call me girlfriend. Don't ever rely on "sources" who claim to know me or my family. You will be taken every time."

Palin even took a shot at Margaret's politics. "If you understood that commonsense conservative values supports the right of individuals like you, like all of us, to live our lives with less government interference and more independence, you would embrace us faster than KD Lang at an Indigo Girls concert."

The comedienne responded to Bristol's remarks on her Twitter account. "The only reason Bristol is so freaked out and everyone is asking me to retract what I said is because they know its true."

On Nov. 29, Cho blogged about a rumor that Palin's daughter was only competing in the reality TV dance competition because her mom pushed her into it so she could score political points for a possible White House run.

"Sarah supposedly blames Bristol harshly and openly (in the circles that I heard it from) for not winning the [2008] election, and so she told Bristol she 'owed' it to her to do 'DWTS' so that 'America would fall in love with her again' and make it possible for Sarah Palin to run in 2012 with America behind her all the way," Cho wrote.

These Palin haters have been working even before the election,
and for some reason, they continue to critizise every move the
Palins make. As someone has said many times, we don't see them
critizing the others, like Biden, Pelosi,.....well I guess Pelosi
does get her share!

Bristol, you are not a star in any sense of the word so DWTS would NOT have invited you on. This had to be done by your mom and her teabaggers. You remained after the MUCH better dancers had to leave. But you were not a good dancer. You mom and her teabaggers kept you on by voting over and over to keep you on. So to DWTS...if you change this corruption, you will be losing a lot of viewers.

The real problem is the show is called "Dancing With The Stars" isn't it? Then tell me what in the hell is Bristol Famous for other than getting pregnant at an age the boyfriend should have be charged for Statutory Rape. She's not a famous actress or even a famous singer. Anyone of intelligence will know she's not a "Star" If the voting system counted on real talent, Bristol would have been gone from the very beginning. PERIOD

Bristol is not her mother. She worked hard and did well on the show. I think Brandy was better, but the only control Bristol had on votes was her own dancing. Give Bristol her due. Would you want Sarah for a mother???

I'm not a Sarah Palin fan, but if Bristol wanted to be on the show, what business is it of ours why she did it? Her reasons are as good as anybody else's. They asked her to be on DWTS for the same reason they ask everybody else -- ratings. It's a TV show.

Ok- 'idiot' is a bit harsh. I'm sure that Sarah has a lot of good qualities and her intelligence falls somewhere in the average range. That being said, she is GROSSLY UNDERQUALIFIED to even be considered to have her name put on the ballot for Vice President or President of the United States. It is alarming that there are so many people who support her because they have similar conservative values but turn a blind eye to the fact that she does not have the skills, knowledge or experience which are essential for a Presidential candidate.
Besides, if her past behavior is any indicator of future behavior, she'd probably resign (if not impeached first)to pursue the next shiny object that catches her eye. She didn't even give the State of Alaska a 30 day notice before bailing out on them. Sarah 'Bailin' Palin
