Bristol Palin: 'My Mom Did Not Force Me to Go on 'DWTS''

Bristol Palin is firing back at Margaret Cho, after the comedienne and fellow 'Dancing With the Stars' contestant claimed Sarah Palin made her daughter appear on the show.

"I will give my friend credit for creativity, and extra points for getting so many 'facts' wrong in so few sentences," Bristol wrote on her Facebook page.

"Let me be blunt: my mom did not 'force' me to go on 'DWTS.' She did not ask me either. The show approached me. I thought about it. I made the decision," she continued.

"It saddens me that people would think that my mom would 'blame' me for anything that occurred in the 2008 election--much less 'harshly" and "openly.' I think that canard (there, I said it again), has been floating around since then also," she added.

Bristol decided to speak up because she wants to defend her mother.

"Why do I want to set the record straight? Because it is this type of hurtful and false narrative that people promote to make my mom look bad. For 20 years my mom had my back--and for the rest of my life I will have hers."

The teen mom also invited Cho to speak to her directly. "If you ever have a question, call me girlfriend. Don't ever rely on "sources" who claim to know me or my family. You will be taken every time."

Palin even took a shot at Margaret's politics. "If you understood that commonsense conservative values supports the right of individuals like you, like all of us, to live our lives with less government interference and more independence, you would embrace us faster than KD Lang at an Indigo Girls concert."

The comedienne responded to Bristol's remarks on her Twitter account. "The only reason Bristol is so freaked out and everyone is asking me to retract what I said is because they know its true."

On Nov. 29, Cho blogged about a rumor that Palin's daughter was only competing in the reality TV dance competition because her mom pushed her into it so she could score political points for a possible White House run.

"Sarah supposedly blames Bristol harshly and openly (in the circles that I heard it from) for not winning the [2008] election, and so she told Bristol she 'owed' it to her to do 'DWTS' so that 'America would fall in love with her again' and make it possible for Sarah Palin to run in 2012 with America behind her all the way," Cho wrote.

I totally agree with you!
Bristol is her own person, and am happy she came on to defend herself.
People are just jealous, wish they could be like Sarah Palin.
She is very pretty, has wit and charm and she is a All American.
She does alot of things, even hunts , not afraid of anything or anyone! This is enough for people to be afraid of her.
The more I see and hear Sarah Palin, the more I like her. She would make a much better president than the one we have sitting right now in the White House!!!
He has done nothing but spend spend spend! Bows down to the Saudi Arabian King, but didn't bow down to the queen of England, HHHMMMMMMM!!!
What American President ever appologizes to countries below us and says sorry for everything we have done???? NO ONE!!
The way our country is going, within a few years America isn't going to be one of the strong countries. He is lowering our defenses etc. NO SECOND TERM PRESIDENT!
Sarah, go out there and fight, you will be the next president!!!
As for all those jeaolous idiotic people who still pick on you and your family,Lets open the book to their families, I bet they have alot of dirt in thier closet, perhaps even a daughter or son that had a child out of wedlock tooo!!!!!!!!!
So people, lets not call the kettle black, look in your closet first!!!!!!!!

You are so right. Notice most of the people who hate Sara the most are fat or ugly. I'm appalled at the vicious things that are said about her. She's so down to earth and for the people and can't be bought! What's the problem??? Are these people insane?

Bravo Bristol! Don't know why everyone is so afraid of the Palins! They stand up for their values and care for each other. Ok, Bristol made a mistake, but she's trying to keep other girls from doing the same thing. She's taking care of her child, not just dumping him on mom and dad and running off all the time. Nobody is perfect. You know, they put their pants on one leg at a time just like everybody else.

Afraid of the Palin's? Who would be? A family lacking any sort of real values...a momma who dumps her political office so she can chase down the all mighty buck. The Palin children are homo phobes who obviously learned this from their parents and one daughter who has a hard time keeping her legs together while out preaching about staying pure...yeah who would be afraid of this group of losers.

The Values of Limited Government, Fiscal Conservatism, Lower Taxes for the rich to stimulate Job creation, REAL incentives for innovation not just government regulation, The right of Individual States to innovate and create their own solutions to Healthcare, Energy, Land Use, Education, and many other issues. Does her family have problems? YES! I would be shocked if anyone's didn't! I am NOT a SP Supporter! I didn't vote for her and won't vote for her next time, but slamming on her because her daughter got pregnant has nothing to do with the VALUES people are talking about here!

This letter wasn't written by Bristol, nor by Sarah Palin. It was probably written by Sarah's lawyer or PR representative. Bristol doesn't know what some of those words mean and Sarah would have made up a couple of new ones.
