Ed O'Neill Disses Jane Lynch's 'Glee' Emmy Win

Speaking to TV critics at a press conference in LA, 'Modern Family' and 'Married ... With Children' star Ed O'Neill praised 'Glee' star Jane Lynch, then slammed her 2010 Emmy win.

"I love Jane, honestly I do," O'Neill said, TV Guide Canada reports. "I'm dying to star in one of Christopher Guest's movies alongside her, but I don't think she should have gotten the Emmy for that part. [Sue Sylvester] is just a one-note character."

O'Neill submits his onscreen wife Sofia Vergara should have won the Emmy. "Sofia is just so, so funny. I don't think people realize how hilarious she is. She's so sharp with her wit, it's amazing."

O'Neill also recounted his disinterest in getting back into the sitcom game after spending 10 years on 'Married ... With Children.'

"Then I read the ['Modern Family'] script, and I said to myself, 'Oh God, this is so good.' I put the script down and came back and read it a second time and thought, 'I have to do this.'"

Well, he is right about Sofia Vergara. I am definitely a fan of her. When I first heard that they are going to play as a couple when the show began, I therefore started watching the show.

Sofia Vergara is exotic, invigorating, and so much more. Indeed, she is a real woman.

That's a matter of opinion. I think Jane Lynch is terrific. She's the reason I watch "Glee." Without here it would be a pretty tame show. She fully earned the Emmy.

Oh great, now he's getting vocal. You were fantastic in Married with Children, Ed, but the most boring detective on television in Big Apple. Unbelievably bad. You are merely there to entertain us. Don't get carried away. Be silent, and just continue to be funny in Modern Family. That's all you have to do. Shhhh.

Though I like Jane, she does play the exact same character! See her in "The 40 year Old Virgin," "Role Models." You would think "Sue Sylvester" was in both these films! Sofia was robbed and "Modern Family" runs circles around "Glee."

The truth hurts. Jane Lynch IS a one note character herself. I'm sick to death of her and Betty White. The most overexposed people on TV. Further evidence that Glee is garbage.

Entitled to your opinion...."Glee" is not garbage, is the most entertaining new show on this year along with "Raising Hope" which is worth the watch just for Cloris Leachman's character alone..but I digress

Jane Lynch is fun on GLEE. BUT Modern Family is a much better show for me.GLEE is predictable and to me only a few of the characters are watchable: Kurt/Kurt's father...SUE S. Finn/Rachel.The rest of the cast are forgettable. BUT on Modern Family every member of that cast stands out in their consistently hilarious performances. I do agree that Jane Lynch makes GLEE and that the show should revolve more around her character and her ongoing semi psychotic behaviours:)

Anyone who posted above that they were for Ms. Lynch winning should check out the movie "Best in Show". Then you will see how very much she deserves to win prizes. Think she is one of a kind. Love her in Two and a Half Men, too.

Ed who? He's on Modern Family?

I saw this on yahoo as the first article, and I thought to myself, "Who honestly cares about something like this?" It actually made me angry because in the industry, people must always watch what they say, and it's kind of unfair because they're not allowed to speak their minds. It's not a bad thing to say someone else deserved an Emmy because they were unrecognized. I think people who are offended by that kind of stuff need to get over themselves. Another thing is that a lot of those teenagers who watch Glee believe Jane Lynch should have won the Emmy most definitely because "glee is the best show ever." The office is my favorite show, and I realize that it shouldn't have ever won an emmy except for the second season, which I don't think it did. Sofia Vergara's character is lively and brings a lot of plot and attention to the show. I, honestly, have no idea why people get so offended if someone says something like that.
