No Girl-Girl 'Dancing' for Ellen's Wife, Portia de Rossi
Producers of ABC's 'Dancing With The Stars' have decided that America isn't quite ready to see a same-sex couple on the ballroom floor after their only choice,
Ellen Degeneres' wife Portia de Rossi, didn't pan out.
"If Portia had agreed then this would have been a done deal," an ABC insider tells me. "She was the only star that could have pulled this off without completely offending the program's conservative viewers."
But since the 'Arrested Development' beauty has rejected their offer, producers have decided to wait a few years and "not rush into creating a same-sex dancing couple just to get attention and publicity."
The show has a soft spot for stunt casting -- Kate Gosselin, Florence Henderson, Bristol Palin, anyone? -- but isn't yet ready to invite on a same-sex couple. The last time a contestant did anything remotely gay --
Margaret Cho's rainbow dress -- she was promptly dumped by viewers.
"With all the debate going on about Don't Ask, Don't Tell in the country, this would have been the perfect time to do this," one Hollywood casting director tells me. "Yet, the show has never been about pushing the envelope. It's a huge hit because it doesn't make anyone uncomfortable."
My sources tell me the backlash felt over Palin's surprising tenure on the show caught producers by surprise and they're looking to avoid conflict for a while.
"After Bristol, I predict it will be the most boring bunch of stars ever cast next season," the casting director says. "When you have a hit as big as this on your hands, everyone is scared to mess it up."

Margaret Cho didn't get voted off because of her "gay statement" dance. She was a rotten dancer and it was time for her to go. I don't understand why Portia would have to dance with a woman just because she's gay. What would she have against dancing with a man? Actually, I'd love Ellen to do the show but I'm sure she's too busy. The real stars are! I think this show has just about run its course.

What people do in the privacy of their homes has nothing to do with dancing. The concept of doing same-sex dancing just because a contestant is gay is totally retarded. So if a contestant only likes Cuban guys, are they going to pair that person with a Cuban dancer? If a person only likes guys who are 6 ft. 3 inches tall, will their partner be that exact height? Will the guy who likes junk in the trunk definitely be paired with Lacey? What about the person who only dates Jewish people? Or the lady who only dates guys who drive ferraris? Silly, isn't it?

I have no problem with her, or anyone's, sexual preference, but don't really want to see two women, or two men, dancing together. It has nothing to do with their sexuality, it just doesn't seem like it would be entertaining.
As for the homosexual lifestyle, again, I don't care what they want to do, I just don't want their sexuality flaunted in my face, just as I don't want to watch a heterosexual couple having sex or being overtly intimate in public either.
Gay rights activists need to keep in mind that if they weren't so flamboyant and shoving their sexuality down people's throats, they'd be more likely to gain the acceptance that they desire. Overtly sexual behavior is not accepted in society, be it hetero or homo.

REALLY? The bible actually uses the words 'homosexual perverts?' Gosh! I have never found those words or the phrase anywhere in the bible. Perhaps you would be kind enough to tell us exactly where they can be found. Frankly, I've never seen anything in the bible that prohibits homosexuality. After all it would be physically impossible for a man to lie with a man as he does with a woman. Men and women have different body parts thus making that part of Leviticus rather moot. As Homer Simpson would say "DOH!".
This is my favorite show but I find it sad that just because someone is gay the show feels that they have to have a same sex partner. Lets stop with the sensationalism and get back to good entertainment.

gay people aren't going anywhere. they have always existed and always will. there's a lot more homosexuality in the world than you'd probably care to know about. probably going on under your own noses if not in your own marriage behind your back. sorry folks, the closet door's been opened and we ain't going back in. everyone has a right to live their life as they seem fit as long as it does no harm to others. it's the differences in people that makes life interesting.

Lesbians and homosexuals are unnatural freaks. Even dumb animals do not engage in same sex sex. For these and many other good reasons, they are overwhelmingly rejected by our society and will always be. Of course, it was a poliical move on Palin's part..I am sick to death of hearing about the Palin family..and as far as dancing with the stars go, was Bristol really a "star"? If having a child out of wedlock makes you a star, then whoopeeeeeeee!

why are you people so full of hate??? Let people live their lives. If they have a gay couple of DWTS and you object, don't watch!!! As for Bristol, I really had no opinion about her either way before she was on DWTS. After seeing how well she did and how she conducted herself as a mature adult, I have new admiration for her. The fact that she is Sarah's daughter does not make it a political issue. She seems to be a good mother and tries to teach teenagers not to make the same errors in judgment that she made. Kudos to Bristol.
