Demi Lovato's Dancer Suing Over Alleged Assault

Demi Lovato is doing well in rehab and addressing the issues that put her there, according to her father, but the Disney star has one big hurdle to conquer when she's back on the outside.

Lovato has been accused of assault by backup dancer Alex Welch, who is now threatening to sue.

RadarOnline reports that Welch has been forced to seek both emergency medical care and advice from a plastic surgeon relating to the injuries allegedly sustained from Lovato.

Welch's lawyer, Donald Karpel, tells Radar, "We will be filing a lawsuit next week. We will be seeking punitive damages for assault, battery and for mental stress," adding that Welch is seeking the advice of an ear, nose and throat surgeon.

Welch, who suffered a black eye and bruises at the hands of Lovato, spoke to PEOPLE following the incident, telling the magazine, "To this day, I haven't gotten an apology. I've heard nothing. That's sad if you think that person is your friend."

Demi's father, Patrick Lovato, told Radar that he thinks Welch is in over her head, noting the excellent legal representation backing both his daughter and Disney. Of Welch's case, Patrick Lovato says, "This girl shouldn't sue ... she won't win."

I would like to know how you think Demi is anyhwere near obese? Do you even know the meaning of obese? Jealous much? Probably mad bc she's only 18 and makes soooooooooooooooooo much more money than you! HA.

Demi's father said that this woman better not try to sue his daughter because Demi has a lot of money and Welch will never win a dime from his daughter.

Alex should sue and I am sure she will win, they will probably settle out of court. Demi's father is an enabler, Demi needs to be more independent from her parents once she is out of treatment.

Sue her for what, Lucky? A black eye?! Grow up. The close up photos showed a black eye and a bit of swelling on her cheekbone - there were no cuts requiring "a plastic surgeon." Methinks I smell bullcrap and a payday.

That dancer Alex clearly wants money. He's probably running way low on his rent and thought it would be easy to sue Demi and grab a few million. Saying that he thought they were "friends" is bull, trying to get sympathy from the people. If he wants some money he should be a street performer or something. OR went to college and did something useful with his life then scam an adored disney star. Demi doesn't need this extra bull crap drama.

Demi Dad better wake up, his daughter did it, or she wouldn't have checked herself into rehab. Don't be a Lohan Dad be responsible. Welch has a great case, she should sue if she gets nothing not even a thank you for the black eye.

I don't know what to say because people usually twist up the story so much that I can't makes sense of it. If Demi did hurt the girl, then shame on her. Just because your emotionally depressed doesn't mean that you can hurt other people. If Demi did nothing to her and Alex is lying, then shame on Alex for trying to scam an emotionally disturbed person of money. I need more facts from this before I can truly give my opinion.

I don't care about Lemi Davato. I have never heard of her.

So sad, maybe Welch should not sue, but the father should be apologizing for the incident and trying to get his daughter to do so aswell. I love Demi, but so far he sounds like a bully and the reason they have such good representation is because of his "DAUGHTER'S" work. He should get off his pedistal and focus on what is upsetting his daughter so much she feels the need to cut herself and lash out at other people!

One more thing, she got punched in the face. What does she need a throat, nose, and ear surgeon for?
