Johnny Depp Explains Why He Doesn't Own a Phone

It's impossible to call Jack Sparrow, not because he's too busy, but it's just that he doesn't even own a phone. Johnny Depp told Access Hollywood he likes a tech-free house and phones are too invasive for him.

"I just don't like phones," Depp said. "I just don't like them ... being reachable all the time."

The 47-year old actor doesn't hate all technology though, so if you really must reach him, shoot him an e-mail.

"We have internet and stuff like that because I think that's the safest form, well, most interesting form of communication," Depp said. "You'd have to you know just buzz me on the internet or something."

Depp, apparently on a tear of revealing why he doesn't own or do things, recently told Extra why he and longtime girlfriend Vanessa Paradis have not wed: "I never found myself needing that piece of paper," Depp said. "Marriage is really from soul to soul, heart to heart. You don't need somebody to say, okay you're married... If Vanessa wanted to get hitched, why not... But the thing is, I'd be so scared of ruining her last name. She's got such a good last name."

johnny depp is a true nut case...have a cell phone for family emergencies, and job emergencies...ck. caller id.

if vanessa puts up with not being married, then it is on her. personally, i think she is stupid to give you everything without being married...but your excuse is crazy. she doesnt need to take your name to be married. maybe you are greedy..guess so...you can take on her name if you love it so much.
johnny paradis-depp...nice. vaness paradis-depp lame excuses. hope you 2 dont have kids out of wedlock like the others. poor kids.

They already have 2 kids, silly. He doesn't have to be married to be a good partner and father. His parenting is probably better than most married dads. Better than a divorce.

I'm glad he's taking a stand. Marriage is a joke and not needed these days especially in a world where it usually doesn't last ten years. Way less in Hollywood. It's only a paper like he says. People don't need to be married to be happy together.

A women does not need marriage as protection for herself and the children. Just a good lawyer. Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russel have been "married" for years. No scandals and the children are fine as is Goldie

I have a phone, and never use it, unless one of my friends are having a tough time. I dont like a tracking device on me.

Johnny Depp is a great actor, a great person and so much fun to watch. He deserves every award he gets and deserves to be left alone if he wants to be. I hope he does tons more movies.
