Kevin Smith's career might be soaring, but the star just can't seem to get off the ground, thanks to a number of mishaps in his recent airplane travel. The Huffington Post reports that Smith was kept from boarding a Virgin America flight with his wife, Jennifer, and 'Jay and Silent Strike Back' co-star Jason Mewes. Allegedly, the trouble started when the trio arrived at the gate less than ten minutes before the plane was scheduled for departure, which was deemed too late to board by airline personnel.
Smith took to his website, Silent Bob Speaks, to express his disappointment with Virgin's customer service. Smith wrote, "We pleaded with Manny (the unfriendly face of Virgin America JFK working the gate), pointing out the remaining time (there were still 8 minutes before scheduled departure), and pointing out that the jetway was still attached to the plane."
Smith went on to explain his frustration about being kept off the plane particularly because he had employed the services of a personal concierge whose job it was to ensure Smith and his party boarded on time. "He said he'd called for us over the p.a. system, but my wife's name is SCHWALBACH-you say a name THAT distinctive over a loudspeaker, at least two people in an airport are gonna turn their heads: me & Jen Schwalbach," Smith wrote. "Well, without calling anybody a liar, it's just REALLY hard to believe that p.a. call was actually made."

I think this gentlemen should face the fact that he is unfortunately fat and may need to go on a diet. His weight is not healthy for him either and losing some would ease the flight problems too!!!

His weight had nothing to do with his problems this time.

You are right, Jennifer. It wasn't his weight. It was his wait...
How about you arrive 2 hours early like everyone else. You obviously are not too busy to travel somewhere by plane, you can get packed and drive to the Airport earlier. AND I AM A FAN OF HIS!!! You're an adult, get your sh!t in order.

This guy sounds like a big fat A-hole. Rules are rules. You're late, you don't board the plane. Sounds like he wants preferential treatment because he's a celeb. A fat one. Its people like him that make working menial airline jobs totally not worth it...in fact, any customer service job.

A personal concierge? In addition to being fat, Kev is an idiot, too! If you have a concierge for your life, why be fat, late, or goofy?

He's a pig. Ignore him.

Pretty soon he is going to run out of airlines he can fly on. And of course it will never, ever be his fault, always someone else's. Maybe he can't tell time so he doesn't know when to be at the gate. Maybe he should hire a four year old to tell him what time it is so he doesn't miss his flight...

This is such BS..what an inflated ego, stomach and selfishness this guy has. I guess he needed more publicity and here we are!! lol
He should fly Cargo. I'm sure They'll take him

For one, there's a giant sign when you check in at the airport that tells you to pack your medicine and cell-phone charger and other important things in your CARRY-ON BAG. For two, really? Kevin Smith, you really have that hard of a time boarding a flight on time that you HIRE someone to make sure, and then you still don't make it? Oy. You fail, buddy. Stop blaming the airline/airport/personnel and take some personal responsibility.
Maybe you should just give up drive or take the train.

The most disturbing part of this whole story is that his bags were allowed to fly without him. Is this not a breach of the current security policy???

excellent catch Barry - that is really the only piece of news worthy material on this page 8^).
Bob go on a diet and get in line or charter your aircraft.
Kevin,, apparently theres one place where you get treated like the rest of the country,, in the air ports.
We all show up on time to catch our flights,, you are not a special case this time.
We show up on time, and dont expect the air craft and everyone else, to wait on us to arrive.

I think that you've never been to JFK to try and catch a flight. The traffic there is immense & unpredictable. You can be late for flights there if you leave 2 hours early, it just happens in NY.
I think the only question not being asked is what was her medication?
