Is Bristol Palin a Bigger Star Than Her Mom Now?

Bristol Palin dominated the news this week, with her military-precision responses to slights by Margaret Cho (Sarah made her do 'Dancing With the Stars'), Kathy Griffin (Bristol's chubby) and Keith Olberman (she's a "Worst Person"). All this attention has many wondering, is the daughter a bigger celebrity than her famous mom?

"Without any doubt Bristol is now the biggest star in the Palin household," an A-list Hollywood publicist tells me. "At the moment I would argue she's one of the biggest stars out there."

Easy, now. It's true that Bristol is finally finding her voice (with the help of a speechwriter, as Billy Bush opined this week on 'Access Hollywood') and this added attention along with her success on 'Dancing' has led to a whole host of offers and opportunities for the young mom. Books, reality shows, product endorsements ... you name it, she's been offered it.

One weekly celeb magazine editor tells me Bristol is "the new Kim Kardashian" on the scene.

"She's beautiful and real and not another one of those skinny Hollywood types. Add that she was a teen mom, which is very in right now with the MTV show and all, and you couldn't have written a better or more dramatic personal story. Sarah is yesterday's news. Bristol is today."

Bristol has just as much of a chance being a star as she does being a super nova. Both are equally impossible. There is a huge difference between being a star and being famous (or infamous).

I've often thought the same thing about Kim Kardashian, Paris Hilton, Nicole Ritchie - how they've ended up with TV shows but started out famous for no real reason. They are paid to attend parties and nightclubs and other public appearances - not to sing or act or show off their intellect. No special talents other than self-promotion. I wouldn't want their lives, but it's interesting how the public and especially the media feeds into this.

I feel the same way. When the author wrote that Bristol is a teen mom which is "very in" right now, that sentence really stuck me as just plain wrong. Bristol should not have been on "Dancing", or they should have changed the name of the show. She is not a star.

Hey UBA ~~ So is it being an unwed mother that bothers you or Bristol's age that should have prevented her from being on DWTS. I don't see you screaming about the OTHER single- young- never-married mother on this season so that can't be it. You have no problems with irresponsible thaers because Mario Lopez and many of the ball players on DWTS were never critized for not marrying their baby's mamas. So what is you real problem unwed mother or just Bristol Palin???
