Elizabeth Hurley Confirms Her Marital Split

Back in 2007, the couple tied the knot in lavish ceremonies on two continents. But wedded bliss was a distant memory today, as British beauty Elizabeth Hurley took to Twitter to announce that she separated weeks ago from husband Arun Nayar.

Hurley, 45, had recently been dogged by tabloid rumors in the U.K. alleging an affair with Australian cricket pro Shane Warne, according to E! News. A new report in London that she was recently seen sneaking into a hotel for trysts with the athlete seems to have compelled her to go public.

The model-actress (whose high-profile 1990's relationship with Hugh Grant first propelled her to fame) wasted no time today setting the record straight about her marital status.

"Not a great day," she tweeted. "For the record, my husband Arun & I separated a few months ago. Our close family & friends were aware of this."

Nayar, an Indian-German textile heir and software entrepreneur, began romancing Hurley in 2003. The two wed in 2007 -- first in Britain (a civil ceremony in an English castle followed the next day by a religious ceremony in the castle's chapel), then in the groom's homeland of Jodhpur, India (a traditional Hindu ceremony in a palace attended by Bollywood stars and Greek royalty).

Hurley's primary residence during the marriage has been an organic farm in Gloucestershire, where she worked on launching a line of healthy snack foods. The 'Austin Powers' star is mom to an 8-year-old son, Damian, with her ex, millionaire Stephen Bing.
