Hot off the heels of his new single 'Waiting Outside the Lines,' 13-year-old pop virtuoso Greyson Chance stopped by PopEater for a video interview and a killer photo shoot.
What'd we learn? He still looks up to Lady Gaga -- whose hit 'Paparazzi' made Greyson famous after a stunning talent show cover version -- but the Oklahoma native on the fast track to mega-stardom also loves everything from 'Glee' to Willow Smith's 'Whip My Hair.' Watch our interview after the jump!
You were nominated for a People's Choice Award for Favorite Viral Video Star. How'd that feel?
It's crazy and it's mind-blowing, and it's just to my fans, they're the reason why I'm here today. And Ellen[DeGeneres, Greyson's biggest fan, who hosted him on her show and signed him to an imprint of Interscope Records] too -- I mean, if I was never on her show this would never be happening. It's an award for everybody, not just me. It's an everybody award.
We saw you met your hairdo doppelganger Justin Bieber at some point along the line?
I met him at the VMAs, yes. He's incredible -- so nice. He's a really cool guy
Nice. How about the next kid sensation, Willow Smith? What do you think of 'Whip My Hair'?
I love it! Cause [singing] "I whip my hair back and forth, I whip my hair back and forth -- just whip it." I think it's an awesome song and the production on it -- her voice sounds incredible, she has a crazy, crazy good voice. I think the song's great, I'm ready for the record. I'm really interested to see how the record sounds, I'm really excited for it.
Now you know how people feel about waiting for your record. What's happening with it? Last time you said an EP could be coming out soon. We know you've been holed up in LA, writing and recording...
Well I don't think it's going to be an EP anymore but, you know, the single came out and we're probably going to be releasing two or three more singles until the record comes out. It's coming along really well -- we're at I would say about 60 percent.
What else are you into these days? 'Glee' fan?
I'm a very big fan of 'Glee.' I love the new season.
Would you ever appear on the show?
If I was offered, I would definitely, 100 percent go on the show.
Do you have other covers you might start performing?
Maybe not on the record, but I love putting covers on YouTube and stuff like that. The New York song, 'Empire State of Mind,' I just learned a version of that. I didn't learn the rap part 'cause obviously I can't rap, but I learned the Alicia Keys part.
First thought when we saw your 'Waiting Outside the Lines' performance on 'Ellen': Has this guy been getting rock star lessons? You perform like a pro.
I kind of want this to be a rock show, I want it to be like a KISS show. Well maybe not as ... evolved as KISS, but I try to make it fun. I try to make it, you know, just rock your head back and forth.
Anyone you model your performance style on, other than KISS?
When you do concerts you have to have that that intimacy with your audience, and I think the best person who does that right now is Lady Gaga. I mean, I've been to a couple of shows and you can really feel the realness of her; she really means everything she says.
The other thing about seeming like a total rock star is your style. You just turned 13! Where's this rad fashion sense coming from?
Well, I have an amazing stylist, her name's Jen, and we like vintage, old clothes. I'm actually wearing wax jeans now. I love Converse and crazy socks. I love shoes -- I hate to wear them, but I love them. Like when I go into the studio, first things first, shoes off. Then it's "lets go record."
Have you looked back at any of your old YouTube videos of just you practicing in your house?
I have a couple of times; they're fun to watch. I'm more like, "Oh my gosh, why did I do that with my hair, why did I sing that note, ahh!" I always correct myself on the videos. But no, they're fun to go back and look at.
Any good holiday plans coming up?
I'm excited for Christmas, I love it. I'm actually going back home.
What do you love about it?
I love it in Oklahoma 'cause people are really into Christmas -- people put up lights, crazy stuff. You think it's tacky when people would put up those icicle things? Come to Oklahoma -- tacky is like redefined. They're totally like what's the movie, 'National Lampoon's'? There are so many of those Chevy Chase houses in Oklahoma, especially in Edmond. We put up lights too, but something always goes bad with our lights, so I'm excited to see what it is this year.

Oh lord, how I LOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNG for the days of grunge, when people made music that actually MEANT something instead of today's vapid, nonsensical 10-year-olds. So nauseating what music has de-volved into.
If a 13 year old can say Lady Gaga is his idol, what's so bad about Miley Cyrus? Seems to be a double standard that a little boy can go to Gaga concerts, but Miley is somehow bad for everyone on the planet. And I like Lady Gaga OK, but just sayin'
What a silly mommy! Katie Holmes takes Suri into the water in her clothes as the two spend the afternoon at the beach in Miami. More of Today's Hottest Photos
