Former Child Star Melissa Gilbert Thinks Miley Cyrus Wanted to Get Caught

Melissa Gilbert may have grown up in a time without camera phones and the 24-hour news cycle, but she's in the camp that believes Miley Cyrus knew exactly what she was doing when she allowed a friend to videotape her smoking from a bong recently.

"These days, everyone with a cellphone is a paparazzo," Gilbert told AOL News. "How high do you have to be to let a friend film you? I think she wanted to get caught."

The former star of 'Little House on the Prairie' and spokeswoman for The Partnership at DrugFree.org thinks Cyrus is being too reckless after smoking salvia ... or whatever it was that got her so loopy that night.

"That's bulls***!" Gilbert said. "I think it was marijuana."

The 46-year-old actress, who played Laura Ingalls Wilder on the famed 1970s television show, doesn't think Cyrus is the ultimate problem child, but still believes kids need to look at this incident as a valuable lesson about drug abuse.

"Hopefully, these kids in the public eye like Cyrus and Heath Ledger are cautionary tales," Gilbert said.

Amen Dani! I've smoked weed in the past and have NEVER had *that* kind of a reaction to it. It did give me the munchies though and my MD and psychologist were pretty happy when I went up from 89lbs to 119lbs. 4 1/2 kids later, I weigh a bit more than that, but it did help me gain the weight I'd lost through anorexia. Would I smoke it now that I am a mother? No. But that's just me. Am I disappointed in Miley? No more than usual. I've always thought she was a skank and don't let my daughters watch her. That's not the kind of role model I want them looking up to.

Yikes! Has Melissa had way too much plastic surgery?! That is an awful picture of her (still love her and little house though!) Of course Miley wanted to get caught or didn't care! If you are someone like Miley, you cannot do anything of this sort and not expect that someoone may see it, get real.

See how much Melissa knows. Pot gets you high, but not that fast and it certainly doesn't make you hallucinate. Salvia does, the effects are strong and immediate, but short lived. I am not a Miley fan...she is annoying to me. However she is 18, she has money and salvia is legal. If parents are concerned, they should talk to their kids about it. Melissa should be focused on her botox and lip injections and how she is beginning to look like a clown.

I agree 100% with Melissa. Miley new exactly what she was doing and I feel she likes attention. She seems to be in the spot light a lot recently for one reason or another. I hope she seriously thinks about the road she appears to be headed on. She is so young and extremely talanted. Ther is no need to take a wrong turn. She has it all.

Gilbert looks like hell. What's with the bad plastic surgery? I thought it was Sandra Bullock. All that aside, why's everyone freaking out because Miley's smoking weed? Jesus, everybody smokes weed, it ain't gonna kill her. Enough drama already, if she starts doing meth or heroin or something actually dangerous, then you should get concerned.

Not to be rude but this is none of Melissa's business. She can have an opinion but does she really need to tell the whole world how she feels? You're not her parents or part of her family so stay out of it. Secondly, why are you dragging Heath Ledger into this? Are you serious? Let the man rest in peace. He died of an accidental overdose because he was fighting pneumonia and had sleeping problems. He is in no way the same as Miley and Lohan.

Also, Heathe was an artist whos work serves as inspiration unlike kids like Miley
