Julia Stiles: I Didn't Break Up Michael C. Hall's Marriage

Within hours of 'Dexter' stars Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter announcing their separation, rumors began swirling about what might have caused the split. One of the most popular? That 'Dexter' guest star Julia Stiles was secretly dating Hall.

Well, that's just not the case, says 29-year-old Stiles. In fact, UsMagazine.com reports she released the following statement on Thursday: "I have absolutely nothing to do with the split between Michael and Jennifer. We are good friends and enjoyed working together."

"This is a personal matter between them, and we should respect their privacy. Although I too prefer to keep my private life private, I felt compelled to dispel the rumors I was somehow the cause for this matter," she concluded.

Earlier this week, Hall and Carpenter announced their separation after two years of marriage. "Having been separated for some time, Jennifer Carpenter and Michael C. Hall have filed for divorce," the reps said in a joint statement. Both reps stressed the split was amicable.

TMZ reported that Carpenter filed her official petition for divorce on Thursday afternoon. The date of separation was listed as August 9, 2010--almost four months ago. She also asked for spousal support.

Hall, 31, and Carpenter, 31, met on the set of 'Dexter' and soon began dating. They married on December 28, 2008.

Why do these stars bother getting married? Why don't they just "date" their co-stars and then they wouldn't have to worry about who's wrecking whose marriage! Goldie and Kurt Russell have been together longer than most Hollywood marriages. Maybe these young stars should take notes!

It's no different than what goes on in everyones own town...Just doesn't hit the papers because it's discussed over the fence when haning out the laundry on wash day along with what married person is screwing which other married person.

How can it be reasonable to ask for spousal support? She apparently has a good job, she has been there just as long as he has, and I don't think she should be hurting for money. Unless he cheated on her and that's some form of revenge I just don't gewt it.
