Kevin Spacey (Sort of) Addresses Gay Rumors in Interview

The rumors regarding Kevin Spacey's sexuality have officially been reignited. In a new interview with openly gay
Daily Beast writer Kevin Sessums, the two-time Academy Award winner made pains to not directly come out, but did talk candidly about his right to privacy when it comes to his sexual orientation. When Sessums told Spacey that there's no shame in joining the gay "tribe," the actor deflected without denying it.
"Look, I might have lived in England for the last several years but I'm still an American citizen and I have not given up my right to privacy," Spacey said.
But Sessums didn't back down, telling the actor that being gay doesn't have to be a private matter, and Spacey calmly argued the opposite.
"People have different reasons for the way they live their lives," Spacey said. "You cannot put everyone's reasons in the same box. It's just a line I've never crossed and never will."
Spacey has battled
gay rumors for more than ten years, and they're certainly not likely to stop after this interview.
Later, when Sessums admitted to quitting acting because he was gay and didn't want to live a lie, Spacey argued that privacy isn't lying.
"I don't live a lie. You have to understand that people who choose not to discuss their personal lives are not living a lie," Spacey said. "That is a presumption that people jump to."
Near the end of the interview, the actor closed the discussion of sexuality by suggesting there may be more to him than meets the eye.
"Look, at the end of the day people have to respect people's differences," Spacey said. "I am different than some people would like me to be."

Spacey is a good man and a great actor. Gay or straight, who cares, that's his business. He does some good impressions too. I like Kevin, I'm a fan.

he's waiting for john travolta to announce it first.
I think you mean Kevin Pollack. He does the impressions.
Got to agree, great actor. It appears to be the only people who really care about his choices, are, the very same people who scream intolerance. For the most part I could not care less about an actor's sexual orientation. I can appreciate them as a craftsman. Like a great carpenter, he does great work, regardless of who he is sleeping with.
Sex between two people is a private matter. It is nobody's business what kind of sex somebody has, how often, if it is with someone of the same sex, opposite sex or a trio of partners. People just need to mind their own business. All I care about Spacey is that he is a talented actor who entertains me whenever I watch one of his movies. Nothing else should matter.
Agreed!! Was it a slow news day or what when AOL decided to treat this interview as "news"? It's nobody's Amsterdam business and this kind of "news reporting" only serves to whip up hatred and homophobia against Gays! Shame on you AOL ! Report REAL news !
You're absolutely right! Kevin is a very good actor and deserves the right to his privacy just as we do. It's none of my, or anyone else's business who he decides to spend time with. I haven't seen too many of Kevin's films but the one he starred in as Bobby Darin convinced me of his talent! Exceptional! Keep thumbing your nose at 'em Kevin! They deserve it!
Who cares? This guy is one of the greatest actors working today.
actually none of my business . He is a very talented man however
hey Dave, I know the difference between Spacey & Pollack, and yes they BOTH do impressions. Look it up!
Gay or not, love ya, Kevin.

I never noticed Kevin Spacey until I saw the "Usual Suspects". One of the best! Regardles of Kevin's sexual preference or anyone elses, it's none of my business and it shouldn't mean a "hill of beans " to anyone else. Much more pressing issues as a United Nation on the table up for discussion. Let's move along people.

I love Kevin Spacey. He is an excellent actor. I hope he lives his life in privacy and who cares how he llves it - it is nobody business and he should not even answer any of these questions about being gay. I am a woman and love to dress in men's clothing - so what.

What is the obsession with knowing whether or not someone is gay? I never hear people ask, "Are you a heterosexual?" What is the big deal? It is his business what goes on behind closed doors. Geesh! Get a life.
