Kevin Spacey (Sort of) Addresses Gay Rumors in Interview

The rumors regarding Kevin Spacey's sexuality have officially been reignited. In a new interview with openly gay
Daily Beast writer Kevin Sessums, the two-time Academy Award winner made pains to not directly come out, but did talk candidly about his right to privacy when it comes to his sexual orientation. When Sessums told Spacey that there's no shame in joining the gay "tribe," the actor deflected without denying it.
"Look, I might have lived in England for the last several years but I'm still an American citizen and I have not given up my right to privacy," Spacey said.
But Sessums didn't back down, telling the actor that being gay doesn't have to be a private matter, and Spacey calmly argued the opposite.
"People have different reasons for the way they live their lives," Spacey said. "You cannot put everyone's reasons in the same box. It's just a line I've never crossed and never will."
Spacey has battled
gay rumors for more than ten years, and they're certainly not likely to stop after this interview.
Later, when Sessums admitted to quitting acting because he was gay and didn't want to live a lie, Spacey argued that privacy isn't lying.
"I don't live a lie. You have to understand that people who choose not to discuss their personal lives are not living a lie," Spacey said. "That is a presumption that people jump to."
Near the end of the interview, the actor closed the discussion of sexuality by suggesting there may be more to him than meets the eye.
"Look, at the end of the day people have to respect people's differences," Spacey said. "I am different than some people would like me to be."

Why doesn't anyone need to know his orientation. I applaud him for keeping it private instead of the constant barrage of intimate details that no one cares about except for the entainment rag sheets and the lame media.

That's why I hate the whole "GAY" scene. They are always trying to "OUT" someone no matter what the consequences are or their feelings. I came out when I was damn well ready and no one gave a freaking crap.I have more straight friends than I do gay and prefer it that way. A lot less drama. Am I proud to be gay? Hmm, good question. I'm certainly not ashamed of it. Just don't feel the need to broadcast it or wave that pretty rainbow flag! Everyone deserves RESPECT straight or gay.

A person's sexual orientation shouldn't matter, unless you are planning to sleep with them. Why are people so concern about a entertainers sexual orientation? The media acts as if they own the entertainer's entire life and that's wrong. My advice to Kevin Spacey is live your life and be happy.

Who cares!!?? This issue is getting old. I love Kevin Spacey!!!!! Gay or not, I think he is sexy :)

He did lie about the reason he was in a London park in the middle of the night a few years ago. It was a very strange incident.

Leave the guy alone, how cares?

Why do we have to know about Kevin Spacey's sex life or anybody else's for that matter?

I dont see what difference this makes? He is a supurb actor and the interviewer wasted the opportunity to talk about something much more interesting than who he is or isnt having sex with.

Kevin Spacey is one of the finest actors of our generation. I for one couldn't care less if he is gay or straight, I will continue to see everything he is in, and, I will continue to carry the same old crush that I have had on him for years. And just so you know, I am a 49 year old woman.

This is disgusting. I read that appalling interview conducted by that self-righteous turtle-necked troll. You guys should be ashamed.

And even if he did answer the questions, what and who would gain of it? Actually, intelligent people with a "life' really don't care what his sex preference is, only his ability to entertain us with great acting. And that he does very well!

I am what most people would consider a conservative Christian. I got to tell you it is none of our business. I don't discuss my wife and I's sex life, why do I need to know his. He is a great actor, Period.

people should ask to married persons why they are married or why they live together. That is the question.

Kevin Spacey cracks me up. He is probably all man and has 6 kids with a georgous woman. He is right. It is no ones business and totally his right to no discuss it.
You rock Kevin and are the best actor of our generation!

When asked, "Who are you?" the reply was "I am who I am." Nobody argues with that. Kevin has said basically the same thing. And as long interviewers don't understand the strength behind his reply, he will continue with the same answer. Bravo!

Sexuality aside, I don't like Spacey and generally would not consider a movie he is in. I have seen him in interviews and I find him wearisome, stilted, and far too full of himslef, and he brings that to his characters - they all exhibit the same smuggness and self-importance. Tom Cruise has the same qualities and brings them to all his characters - just hard to watch, in my opinion.

Gay or straight, I respect Mr. Spacey for his decision. It's his life, and his sexual preference is no one's business but his own. Leave the man alone already.

Why do people have the right to ask such personal questions anyway? Just because a person is a "journalist" or media person, doesn't give them the right to ask. Or, they can ask, but like Kevin, they can absolutely refuse to give an answer! Lay off interviewers!
