Six months after striking two separate cars during a wine-fueled drive--and killing a passenger in one of the cars--former 'Melrose Place' star Amy Locane-Bovenizer has been indicted on charges of aggravated manslaughter and assault by auto, TMZ.com reports. Locane-Bovenizer was involved in a hit-and-run collision in Montgomery, New Jersey this past June. Minutes after leaving the scene of that accident, she slammed her 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe into the passenger side of another vehicle, killing passenger, Helene Seeman. The manslaughter and assault charges stem from the second accident.
TMZ reports that Locane-Bovenizer was indicted Thursday by a grand jury in Somerset County. She faces 10-30 years in jail for the manslaughter charge and an additional 5-10 for the assault by car charge.
Locane-Bovenizer's lawyer Blair Zwillman told TMZ he's "surprised" at the aggravated manslaughter charge, adding, "I don't believe it is supported by the law or the facts and I think it constitutes over-reaching by the prosecutor's office."

Half of all motor vehicle accidents involve people who have been drinking. That means half of all motor vehicle accidents involve people who haven't been drinking. So clearly, it makes no difference whether you drink and drive or don't drink and drive. So why is everyone so down on those who drink and drive? Why aren't the police ticketing drivers with a blood alcohol content of 0% when they're just as likely as anyone else to get into an accident. Where is the organization, "Mothers Against Non-drinking Drivers?"

Surely, you jest....people who are drunk should never drive. It's true that 50% of all accidents are caused by drunk drivers, but that is very insensitive to say that people there should be, " mothers against non-drinking drivers".....pleeeeze :/
Maybe part of the problem is:
50 percent of accidents are caused by a group of people (drunk drivers) that are not even close to being 50 percent of people on the road. If 10 percent of drivers are drunk (and I doubt it's nearly that high), then they are responsible for FIVE TIMES more accidents than non-drunk drivers. Simple (apparently too simple) math.
Hey Tom, an "accident" is when something happens that isn't anyone's fault per se, like the chain-reaction crash Brandy was in that killed a woman. But someone who gets drunk, gets behind the wheel and has not one but TWO crashes that result in someone being killed is a murderer, same as if she'd used a gun.

If your numbers are correct, then the truth would be that by eliminating drunk driving, we would eliminate 50% of accidents on the road. So put that in your pipe and smoke it!

I feel sorry for this girl, but she needs to pay the price for her actions. Of course, I feel much sorrier for her victim and her victim's family.
