Who Set Up Jake Gyllenhaal and Taylor Swift? Gwyneth Paltrow Reacts to Rumors

Now who would be surprised that people are interested in just how 'Love and Other Drugs' star Jake Gyllenhaal and country-music sweetheart Taylor Swift became an item? Gwyneth Paltrow, that's whom.

Amid reports that she hosted a private dinner in London in mid-November for the young lovebirds (Gyllenhaal's 30; Swift turned 21 last week), the Oscar winner and 'Country Strong' star now seems skittish about the topic, according to USA Today.

"Where is this coming from?" said Paltrow, before acknowledging, "I've just known Jake for a long time and he's a great guy...and Chris [Martin, Paltrow's husband and lead singer of Coldplay] has a friendship with Taylor."

But did a dinner at her home actually trigger the romance? Paltrow confirms it...almost.

The 38-year-old mom of two admitted: "Well, I'm scared to say. It's so weird, I wonder how people find out these things. It was a while ago, so I don't know why it would come out today."

A source told Us earlier this month about the discreet dinner date across the pond: "Jake and Taylor were driven from the Dorchester hotel to Gwyneth and Chris Martin's house in Primrose Hill for dinner....Gwyneth seems to have played a role in their relationship." The following week after spending time getting to know Gyllenhaal at Paltrow's place, Swift made a last-minute trip to Brooklyn to celebrate Thanksgiving with her new beau and his big sis, Maggie Gyllenhaal.

Swift, famous for penning songs about her love life, might just be writing a thank-you ditty for her A-list friend (assuming the singer's latest romance continues to be as rosy as rumored). Wonder what she can rhyme with "Gwyneth"?

Taylor Swift won't be a full fledged Hollywood-ite until she takes a negative swipe at Sarah Palin.

I preferred it when Hollywood stayed with their own and Nashville stayed with theirs. I don't like this mix at all because Nashville will be brought down to a morality level they do not want the public to perceive. Late country greats are all turning over in their gaves with all this.
