James Franco is such a rebel. When Entertainment Weekly asked the actor about his Oscar-hosting gig, he said he didn't want to do it at first but then was encouraged by the fact that everyone around him thought it was terrible idea. In short, he decided he didn't care what people thought."When we finally met and discussed it in person, all my representatives were saying, 'No! Of course not!'" Franco recalled. "So that always sparks something in me. So I said, 'Yes, of course!' Because that reaction that they have is based on conventional wisdom of what makes a good career. And that can be boring -- really boring."
When asking himself why he shouldn't do it, he blanked.
"Then I thought about it and I thought, well, why not? Because I'll look bad? Well, I don't care," Franco said.

Good for him. And let this be a lesson to us all: never take any crap from anyone.

Let this be a lesson to you: If you're good looking enough it won't matter if you can't act your way out of a wet paper sack.
I could not care less who hosts any awards show because I gave up watching them years ago. Awards shows are little more than self-congratulation-fests, and the red carpet nonsense is celebs as walking advertisements for fashion designers. I have better things to do.
