'Jersey Shore' Star Indicted for Assault

Ronald "Ronnie" Ortiz-Magro, who stars on MTV's 'Jersey Shore,' has been indicted for an assault that prosecutors say happened just off camera during the first season. A grand jury in Ocean County, New Jersey, says there's evidence that he committed a crime. The indictment was issued Thursday and made public Friday.
The grand jury said the reality TV star punched Stephen Izzo on Sept. 4, 2009, when the show was being filmed in Seaside Heights. While the punch wasn't included in the show, Ortiz-Magro was seen bragging about it.
Izzo's attorney, Eugene Laverne, told the
Asbury Park Press, "It's about time. It's perplexing to me as to why it would have taken 16 months to indict this guy when the crime was committed on film and at this point has been viewed by millions of witnesses."
The third-degree assault charge is punishable by up to five years in state prison. Prosectuors told the Asbury Park Press that they had hoped to resolve the case without an indictment.

ronnie was never cool like the other fellows who just want to have a good, fun time. He is a troublemaker and I guess that helps the show somehow...

Probably an illegal alien, or a Puerto Rican gangsta.

This guy and the rest of the buffoons on that show should be sterilized. All except maybe Vinny, since hes the least mentally disabled of the group.

Vinny is just as bad as the rest. They all deserve to be put away somewhere and taken out of the public eye. I get sick every time I see or hear something about them.
I watch this show for entertainment purposes only. I find it hysterical. The same level as Jerry Springer perhaps but just as amusing. I was at the Shore this year with my kids & upon checking in to our hotel my kids ran out to the boardwalk & ran smack into Snookie punching out another girls lights. Little did I know that we checked in right next door to them. We spent some time sitting next to Ronnie & Sammi on the beach watching them film. They are all just a bunch of young kids sowing their wild oats.
YO! Ortiz-Mongo he got's a sucker punch an don made up a hippity hop rap-a-dap fo he audience. He be's a role model fo gangstas and other idiots to follow.

POS like this should be scraped off the street and kept away from society. Instead we give them folkhero status and pay them millions of dollars to parade their pathetic lives across the TV screen.

I am not one for frivolis lawsuits but the guy that Ronnie hit should sue him for every penny he has and WIN. And Sammi, smarten up and get rid of that loser once and for all.

I saw that episode and like all the other times there was trouble , he didn't start it. The guy kept running his mouth and Ronnie was walking away from the guy...just like in season one. But the guy wouldn't shut up and Ronnie shut him up. In the season 1 fight Ronnie even tried leaving the bar to avoid the guy. But of course the guy followed. What should he do when these "men" start fights and won't leave him alone even when he tries to distance himself from it? Grow up and don't pick fights with guys bigger than yourself and then cry foul when you get shut down.

Lived in Jersey many moons. These "folks" ARE imports from the other side of the Hudson. Believe me, Jersey has a lot more to offer than the weird antics of Jerseyshore people. But if it's BANG you want for your buck, you came to the right gallery.

Have lived on both sides of the Hudson for many moons. There is no appreciable difference!
i think the whole show should be indicted for a very very bad show and bad (real life?)acting.why tv puts a show on the promotes, drinking/sex, just to try to get ratings,is beyond me.there is such a thing as too much reality show on the air.do they actually get paid for that?

The entire cast needs to be prosecuted for impersonating a viable life-form. Get these morons of television!
