Actress Afshan Azad of 'Harry Potter' fame doesn't need wizardry to protect her against bad guy -- she's got the legal system on her side. 22-year-old Azad, who played Harry's classmate, Padma Patil, in the four most recent 'Harry Potter' films, was allegedly attacked by two members of her family, who reportedly disapproved of her boyfriend.
The actress' father and brother, who are Muslim, took issue with Azad dating a Hindu man and allegedly attempted to kill her for it, according to PEOPLE. Azad's brother, Ashraf, has subsequently pleaded guilty to the attack.

Ah, Islam, the religion of peace.

Don't paint all religious people with the same broad brush. I know many very peaceful and religious Muslims. Unfortunately, the only Muslims you read about are fanatics. I am a Christian, and Christianity is full of fanatics too. Like the Christian Fundamentalist who shot a doctor inside a church for performing abortions. You don't think that's fanaticism. It happens in religions all over the world. Be careful about generalizing.
Hmmm....Good thing Islam is a peaceful religion, isn't it. Otherwise, you might have fathers trying to kill their own daughters for something as stupid as dating someone who isn't Muslim....Oh, uhmmm...Nevermind.

Hey Brits,
Don't you know you must accept "diversity"?
According to Shria law, this girl must murdered for going out with a non Muslim. Really, you Brits must all be a bunch of racists!

I'm a Brit and I live in the UAE (United Arab Emirates). I have Muslim friends who have dated non-Muslim people. But then again, in the past, you have had people who are Christians and have married Muslims. It's in some history books and I have been taught it.
Don't you dare pull the racist card on 'all the Brits' because that must mean we all are racist. This is why we have people fighting because of people who pull those sort of stunts. I know you must be informing us, but we do know about diversity. We do have mosques in the U.K and other places for different religions as does all countries around the world.
this is why we should not allow these people to emigrate into Western countries unless they are going to leave these sub human barbaric customs behind

Oh so in the muslim religion family members can kill their daughters if they date someone they don't approve of. Sign me up! they treat their women like slaves and property. No rights no voice. A sad existence indeed.

Ah yes, the good, peaceful muslims. Aren't they the ones who NEVER speak out against terrorism? I think they are called the SILENT majority.

As a Brit I think we are a bunch on pansies allowing those rag heads to dictate what we can do.I lost family in WW2 so there was a hollocust,Jessica must be to young to remember. The rahg heads in England have it easy with all goverment hand outs. She is in the right place to live as she would probably like to be treated like dirt.

What is a "hollocust?"
You couldn't possibly mean "holocaust," since you're trying to use your family history from that time period to prove your point.
This happened in MAY?!?! I'm glad she's okay, but that was months ago. This is no longer current news.

The attack happened in May. Presumably, the admittance happened more recently. So, yes, this is recent news, since the article is about her brother admitting to his crime.
I am glad she escaped, and it looks like justice will be done (as much as justice CAN be done in a situation like this). However, just because she is Muslim and this does sometimes happen in Muslim families, it doesn't mean it happens in ALL Muslim families. Not all Muslims are extremists. If we're painting with that brush, then all Christians are like the Westboro Baptist Church members and all white people are like Timothy McVeigh.
