Scarlett and Ryan's Odd Dinner Date Pays Off

Just one week after the shocking announcement of Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds' split, the two surprised everyone when the were spotted together over the weekend at Blue Ribbon restaurant in New York.

"They are not getting back together," a friend of Scarlett's tells me. "Rather, this was her way to show the world that you can be friends with your ex and that just because you are getting divorced doesn't mean you can't still be civilized towards each other."

Scarlett picked one of the nicest restaurants in New York to meet up with Ryan, a stark contrast to the past two years when they rarely went out to dinner (or in public, in general) together. Instead, the pair would eat at home away from cameras and ogling tourists.

With this outing, insiders believe Scarlett has confirmed she's a master at controlling her own image.

"This was 100 percent Scarlett sending a message," an insider tells me. "She knew the two of them would be noticed in the tiny restaurant and wanted to make sure that they were seen to be having a good time together not fighting."

Indeed. Now, when we hear her or Ryan's name again, we will think of them enjoying a dinner together post-split.

Why prolong it the inevitable? They're getting divorced for a reason. Now move on and let him move on. Who cares that everyone else sees them getting along and having a nice, friendly dinner! "...she's a master at controlling her own image." yeah right, she's more like trying to stay in paparazzi's sight!

As much as I like her as an actress and think she's quite beautiful, we don't need Scarlett to show the world how to act during a divorce. Possibly she should focus on how to act in a marriage instead.

Yea right, men and women are always so "civil" following a divorce - must have been fake in the first place if they can canoodle so soon following a D-I-V-O-R-C-E ... there's no such thing as remaining friends after a breakup. Scarlet is just trying to avoid the bad press. Ryan said she treats him badly etc...not to mention breaking up during the holidays. So she'll wait a month or so and do it again only this time it'll be final. Get out while you have a bit of dignity Ryan.
