Ryan Reynolds and Scarlett Johansson File for Divorce

Just one week after announcing their separation, Ryan Reynolds and Scarlett Johansson are making it official. PEOPLE reports that the 'Green Lantern' actor filed divorce papers in Los Angeles Superior Court on Thursday. Johansson filed her response simultaneously.

Both documents list December 14 as their date of separation and neither is seeking spousal support.

The former power couple shocked Hollywood last week when it was announced they were ending their two-year marriage. After TMZ released a report saying they had separated, the couple quickly issued a joint statement confirming the news and asking for privacy.

"After long and careful consideration on both our parts, we've decided to end our marriage. We entered our relationship with love and it's with love and kindness we leave it. While privacy isn't expected, it's certainly appreciated."

Johansson, 26, began dating Reynolds, 34, in 2007. They tied the knot a year later in an intimate ceremony at a Canadian retreat. They have split time between an apartment in Manhattan and in August, it was reported they purchased a $2.8 million home in Los Angeles.

Hollywood has seen a spate of celebrity breakups as of late. In the past two months alone, Eva Longoria, Elizabeth Hurley, Michael C. Hall, Christina Aguilera and Courteney Cox have all split from their significant others.

I'm just surprised that they'll be splitting their earnings during the marriage, mostly b/c Ryan made so much more. For just 2 years, I wouldn't split or share a dime... But I guess Ryan's a stand up guy :)
